Currently we are going through an exciting growth period and are looking for an experienced Warehouse and Logistics Manager to join our team.

We are looking for a team player who can help take our warehouse and logistics processes to the next level and to take the lead with warehouse and logistics improvements.

The ideal candidate will preferably have a food manufacturing background that includes cold storage management (both freezers and chillers) and experience with management of fresh and frozen raw materials.

This is an immediate start salaried permanent position working Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week. The factory working hours are currently 6.00am to 12.30am therefore the hours for this position can be flexible – preferred between 7.00am and 5.30pm

To be successful in this permanent full-time role the right candidate will have:

At least 5 years’ leadership experience in Warehouse or Logistics position.
Experience in a food manufacturing environment is preferable.
Proven skill in Warehousing and cold storage facility operations.
A sound working knowledge of Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) inwards and outwards good compliance requirements.
A working knowledge of E’Cert procedures is preferred, however training can be given.
‘F’ endorsed Forklift Licence is essential.
Proven ability to work independently, while leading a small team.
Experience in Lean Project management processes is preferred.
Sound systems, mathematical and analytical skills, with attention to detail essential.
Proven ability to problem-solve, decision make and implement change.
Proven ability to build and maintain working relationships.
A proven working knowledge of NZ Health and Safety legislation.
Clean Drug and Alcohol background.
Preferred rights to work in New Zealand (Residency or long-term work visa)

Dear Loyal Pet Parents

Over the last 3 years we have been struggling with the extreme increase in Raw Material costs for our Buster, Buster Chicken and Trumps Rog Roll brands.

We have worked very hard to make them financially viable, but unfortunately this has not been possible. So, it is with great regret that after 39 years, we have decided to discontinue the production of these products.

We will not be producing anymore Trumps rolls and the final day we produce Buster is 14 October.

You are able to purchase our Kiwi Kitchens Salmon or Lamb rolls and we are hoping that Foodstuffs decide to supply you with our full Kiwi Kitchens range which includes Beef and Chicken.

In the coming months we will also be asking Foodstuffs if they are interested in alternative product options for the Buster and Trumps rolls so we will keep you posted.

General Hands/Machine Operators - Afternoon and Evening Shifts

Vital Petfoods is currently looking for fit and active general hands and machine operators to join our production teams, helping us to make the best nutrition for the pets of the world.

We have vacancies in the following shifts:
1. 8 hour morning shifts Monday to Friday 6.00am to 2.30pm
2. 8 hour afternoon shifts Monday to Friday 2pm to 10:30 pm
3. 8 hour night shift from 10pm until 6.30am daily Monday to Friday
4. Variable starting times may be negotiated (either part-time or full-time)

We pay higher than the minimum rate immediately with the ability to earn more as you learn.

The role includes:
• Loading and running petfood processing equipment and machinery
• Cleaning of the machinery and general hygiene responsibilities.
• General processing tasks
• Once trained, role will include machine set up and disassembly, basic general maintenance and troubleshooting as required.

We need our people who enjoy being flexible in their workday as there will be variety in duties depending on the stage of processing and we are keen to teach you a wide variety of different tasks and roles and keep you learning and developing.

Having a F endorsed Forklift Driver's licence would be beneficial for some roles as it would give more opportunity for variety in the day but not essential.

All applicants must be fit and healthy for these fast paced and full-time permanent roles.

We are committed to Health and Safety at Vital Petfoods which includes mandatory Covid Vaccinations as well as passing a Pre-Employment and Drug and Alcohol Test. Random drug tests are carried out monthly.

There has been a significant increase in the theft of dogs, pregnant dogs and puppies, all over the country. It’s absolutely sickening this is happening.

As dog lovers, pet parents and pet food manufacturers, we care deeply about pets.

Pet parents enjoy taking their loved ones for a walk and sometimes to the shops. Today I saw a gorgeous wee doggo tied up at our local supermarket and typically whining for it’s mummy or daddy to come back out (attracting attention).

I beg all you pet parents out there to think very carefully about tying your doggie up while you shop. This sounds drastic and it’s sad to think you can’t do it, but since there’s been a very real increase in dog napping I want to ensure people are very aware of the risk. Keep your doggies safe. 👍👌❤️🐶🐕🐩🐕‍🦺🦮
