Introducing the all new Petrek GPS-4, now with 4G LTE and Built-in Wifi HomeZone Tech!

The outgoing Petrek 3G model which has served thousands of users across New Zealand for the past 8 years can finally get the upgrade it requires. Now with 4G LTE capability to increase coverage, the new built-in HomeZone Wifi means the device will provide much needed accuracy and battery efficiency for pet's that stay home more often.

Happy Friday all !
(Or maybe not so happy, but our technical cat is onto it !)

Due to a recent Android update, especially on Android 13 devices. So you may find that your iPet App notifications might be blocked by the phone with no way to enable it at the current moment.

This is due to a new security update and thousands of apps around the world has been effected and a fix/update is on its way.

You will still be able to track where your furry babies go but do keep in mind the notification may not pop up.

We are confident this issue will be fixed within couple of days. All other users with iPhone and/or Android 12 or under will not have this issue.

Dear Fur Family,

It's been a while since we've launched new products and there has been some exciting work in the background with a couple of new Petrek devices to launch later in the year.

But one thing we've always faced from time to time is when our wee silly cats' go under someone's house only to get their collars hooked onto something and to come off along with their Petrek units. Which as we know can be hard to find when the GPS signal is blocked. In the past few years we've ended up with home owners approaching us with a very dusty Petrek unit that they found stuck under their house during a rebuild wondering who they belonged to.

So to counter that situation where a unit and collar is found we are now launching a personalised bow collar service where you can print your cat's name and your contact number on the collar. Thus if it's ever found someone where it shouldn't be, there would be a higher chance of someone contacting you about it!

Dear Petrek family,

It's been a tough year for us all especially with such a long lockdown here in Auckland and we are all glad to be able to get out finally for a breather.

Thou on the positive side we've thoroughly enjoyed getting calls and e-mails from those that found their missing furry family members including one that was stuck in a neighbours wardrobe!

Our team will be on a much needed break until 09/01/2022. However, there will be a couple of key staff on call so if your call does not get through please do contact us via e-mail or our contact us page. Please allow 2-3 working days for orders to be dispatched during this period.

We've been here before and we all know how to get through this again.

Remember to charge your Petrek units as often as you can and make sure your furry family members don't wonder too far!

Dear Petrek family,

Since the first Covid19 lockdown in 2020 we have adapted in getting all staff to work from home to reduce contact and keep our staff's families safe. This has not changed and thus we have kept this working model going so that if another lockdown occurs the effect on us would be minimal.

This means, durling the current level 3 restrictions we will still operate as normal and be here for support, warranty, servicing and sales services to keep your furry friends safe.

All our stock will be kept at a warehouse and dispatched via contactless delivery while all repairs and inspections can still be sent directly to our technician, just gives us a call or e-mail us at [email protected]

Dear Petrek family

As you all are aware of now we're back spending more time at home with our beloved flurries.

Since March this year we have prepared all our key staff to work from home and have not changed since in order to keep our team as safe as possible. This means that all our support services including new orders will still go on while queries will still be answered.

Thank you all for taking part in this nationwide recovery to get to where we are today!

As we are down to Level 1 now, business will somewhat get back to normal but staying aware of keeping everything we do clean and sanitised is still a good practice. So the Petrek team will be continuing to trial our work from home scheme with our technicians, support, dispatch and sales working from their own safe locations.

So as a Petrek user you need not worry as the local support team will always be here for you during business hours as we have been for the past 10 years! And boy, what a interesting 10th year it's been!

Hi All,

Due to the current situation with COVID19, Petrek staff will be limited but key staff will be working from home strictly for dispatching orders via courier services. A technician will be on-call and work from home while items will need to be sent by courier services only.

Calling All iPhone Petrek users!

Recently depending on the iOS version you are on you may have received a new iPet update that looks completely different to the original iPet app.

There are some bugs on here we are rushing to solve, one is the timezone might be 5 hours behind and the other is the battery bar might be less than what it actually is.

For some that are happy with the new design, feel free to continue using it and for those that prefer the old layout, you can download our iCare app below which is used for our personal trackers but has the exact same layout and logic as the older iPet app version.

Click the link below and add in the tracker on the left menu and you're good to go! Don't forget to go to settings (top right button) and change map to "hybrid" and deactivate "LBS Assist"

Luckily we don't have kangaroos here, but we have had plenty of customer's doggos run off with rabbits !

Standard schnauzer had Petrek tracker on all day from 7 am on normal reporting mode.

Bundled into the car at 2:30 pm for a 3 hour journey home.

Once home, he jumped out of car and disobediently took off immediately after kangaroos in the adjoining paddocks.

I followed on foot and despite my frantic calls couldnโ€™t hear or see him in the quickly fading light.

I didnโ€™t take my phone with me as it was unpacked and in the house already and I was, what I thought was, quickly on his heels.

After trekking across about a km of paddock, roaring, I returned home to get phone and iPet app.

Now heโ€™s missing for almost an hour, in the pitch black and fit enough to chase roos for hours on end.

You canโ€™t imagine the relief when the app showed his location. About 2km away, over hills, fences and dale.

Off I go forcing my blue dot location towards his red dot, hoping the battery, that was 100% at 7am, would last after I swapped reporting over to urgent mode.

It did. In the pitch black now I find he had a kangaroo bailed up on a dam bank. No bark left as he was exhausted, so I only located him due to PETREK and the iPet app.

No harm done to either animal, just me. A hammy and a lost voice but a found dog.

Here is a interesting Hump day story! Last time we had a similar story to this one it was a lost collar found on the tallest tree branch over 20 metres up.

Lucie recently messaged us asking if we are able to help track her cat's lost collar as Immy had returned home without it.

Interesting enough she had thought someone had taken it as it was moving from one point to another instead of staying in one place like they normally do when they fall off.

We then helped Lucie set the tracker to urgent mode which prompts the tracker to use more power but hunt down more signals to try get as much accuracy as it can provided there is good reception.

This was what Lucie messaged us an hour later.
