Motivated by a love of pets, and with a dream of offering high quality, personal veterinary care we set out on this journey just over a year ago. A lot has changed in Christchurch since August 2010 when we first sat down to talk about the perfect location for our new clinic. It has been a bumpy year for everyone with a lot of changes, countless challenges and many opportunities to realise how luck

y we are and how easily things can change in a moment. We have been very fortunate here in Lincoln, suffering only minor set-backs with the earthquakes. With our family, friends & pets all safe it has only strengthened our resolve to remain in Canterbury and work hard to make our clinic an integral part of the Lincoln Village Community. We are looking forward to greeting lots of our four legged friends at the clinic and welcoming many new ones. Please feel free to drop in and say hello, and bring your pets for a meet-and-greet visit … just a treat, no needles!

Such a brave goose!

Unfortunately, we misplaced the contact details for the caring family who brought us this injured goose they found by the Liffey a couple of weeks ago.

We wanted to let you know that despite his horrific injuries from (most likely) a dog attack he is doing amazing and is fighting hard to make a full recovery💕

He’s got his goose-ness back and has recently moved outside to meet some friendly hospital mates 🪿🪿🪿

He is really lucky that you found him when you did!

Happy New Year!

Thank you for all your support during 2023😊

Wishing you and your furry/feathered families a very happy & heath 2024🐾

Someone didn’t quite make it to midnight 🐶💕

Christmas is nearly upon us 🎄How quickly this year has flown by!

With our increased workload in the lead up to the holidays, and the ongoing worldwide staff shortages in the veterinary world, Lincoln Village Vets have made the difficult decision to close our books temporarily to new clients. This will allow us to ensure we have sufficient time to meet all our existing patients' needs.

We are currently booked up for routine surgery appointments (desexing, dentals etc.) until next year. Our appointment books for consultations are looking very busy every day too. To allow for the increase in urgent treatments that we usually see at this time of the year, we will be limiting appointments to pressing and urgent cases. This includes minor sickness or ailments that are likely to get worse if left untreated (sore eyes, ears, abscesses) as well as acute emergencies. We will however, where possible, be booking vaccinations and other non-urgent consultations for early next year.

Our staff are currently working over-time and will continue to do so to ensure ongoing care for all our patients in their moment of need.

If you are already enrolled with us, please do not hesitate to contact us for an appointment if your pet is unwell. We may not always be able to see you at the time most desirable to you but we will try to accommodate everyone the best we can. By closing our books and limiting non-crucial appointments we will be able to support the well-being of our existing patients and maintain a high level of care for all.

Thank you for your understanding and patience 😊

Lincoln Community Cat Owners Microchipping Update.

Yes! It is true! From 1st July this year, all cats over the age of 4 months living in Selwyn must be microchipped.

Many of the cats around Lincoln are already microchipped. If you are unsure, please feel free to phone us & we can arrange to check your cat for a microchip.

At the time of microchipping, if done at Lincoln Village Vets, your cat will have been registered with the NZCAR (New Zealand Companion Animal Register). They are also the organisation running the “free microchipping for adult cats during July” campaign that you will have seen advertised online. This is the NZCAR campaign and is not run by the vets. We have no control over how that is run or who qualifies – they have set the rules. We have opted to join their campaign as it will provide a small number of clients with a free microchip.

The conditions under which we are to operate, are as follows:
1. FREE microchipping is available for a limited number of cats over 1 year of age

2. We can only offer FREE microchipping for cats that are coming in to see us for another reason (like vaccination, desexing, or regular medication checks)

3. The number of FREE microchips available under this scheme is extremely limited. They will be offered on a first-come-first-serve basis to existing clients.

As this offer will only benefit a very limited number of cats, at Lincoln Village Vets we have decided to reduce the cost of microchipping for all cats during the months of July & August. This will include cats who do not qualify under this scheme, including those under a year old, and all adult cats. Microchipping with another procedure will temporarily be reduced to $39 (normally $52) including registration with the NZCAR. Microchipping and registration without other procedures will be reduced down to $54 (normally $72) Please note; this procedure will be performed by a qualified veterinary nurse and does not include a veterinary consultation. If you would prefer to see one of our vets, please mention this when booking – the usual fee of $72 for microchipping will then apply.

Please phone us on 03 3257250 to make an appointment or if you have any questions

Hello lovely Lincoln Community.
Thank you to all the lovely people who have been so supportive and patient during these busy times.

Sadly, our vet Serena has been very unwell resulting in her spending last week in hospital. We are very happy that she seems to be on the mend however, unfortunately, she has come into contact with COVID during her illness and has now tested positive and will not be able to return to work for now. Challenging times for our colleague!

The team here at Lincoln Village Vets are working very hard to ensure that all pets in need of medical treatment are seen and cared for. We are however, not always able to see routine vaccinations or health checks immediately as we have been in the past. Hopefully, we get back to this soon.

Alex & I are extremely proud of the way our team of nurses are going above and beyond to provide care and support to both pets and their owners alike. Bee, Pagen, Lucy & Pania – you guys are absolutely awesome and we could not ask for a more compassionate and hardworking team :)

We understand that these are trying times and not everyone will be happy. We ask for your understanding as these are real people, doing real work dealing not only with day-to-day pressures but also regular emergencies and families of their own – furry & otherwise.

As a small, locally owned business, we take our role in the community very seriously. If you have any concerns, we ask that you approach us and talk to us. Our email address is available 24/7 and we make a point of personally addressing any concerns before, during and after treatment – as long as you let us know about them!

Are you able to help?
With COVID-19 cases on the rise in our community, the pets of Lincoln and local surrounds need your help.
We are starting to see a rise in situations where families are either unwell or isolating at home and are not able to transport their sick pets to us at the clinic.
Are you available to volunteer your time as a pet taxi service in these challenging times?
If so, please send us your contact details and any further useful information (times/days available, cats and/or dogs etc) by email to [email protected]
Thank you 😊

COVID PROTOCOL CHANGES FROM WED 9TH MARCH
Lincoln Village Vets has made the difficult decision to limit our human contact over the next period of time. Due to the rising numbers of cases of Omicron present in our community, we are taking steps to reduce the chances of our staff becoming infected and/or spreading it. This is important as we are a small team. To ensure the safety and continued care for your pets, we need to avoid having multiple staff members off sick simultaneously.

From Wednesday 9th March, we will no longer be allowing people to enter the clinic. The nurse or vet will talk to you outside about your pet’s relevant history and any concerns you may have. We will then take your pet inside for treatment as required.
Lincoln Village Vets remains 100% committed to caring for the pets of our community and hope that this way we will be able to continue our service throughout these ever-changing times.

Thank you for your understanding & we thank you all once again for being a wonderful bunch of people and for all the support you have given us over the years.
If you have any concerns about the current protocols in place, please feel free to phone us on 03 3257250.

The countdown to Christmas is on and we are BUSY. We are currently completely booked up for all non-urgent surgeries until the new year. We have limited numbers of consults available.

Our vets and nurses are working flat out to ensure we accommodate all essential treatment and continue to provide the best possible care for sick and injured pets. This may mean that, on occasion, we are not able to see you at your preferred appointment time and sometimes waiting times may be longer than you are accustomed to.

We are lucky to live and work in an amazing community and really appreciate the patience and understanding we have experienced during these unprecedented times. Your kindness and consideration, in particular to our nurses and front of house staff has not gone unnoticed as we find our feet in this ever-changing new normal.

Lincoln Village Vets remains dedicated to providing an outstanding level of care for the pets of Lincoln and around.

Over the Christmas and New Year period, we will be closed on the statutory holidays only.

This Friday, 3rd December, Canterbury will be moving into ‘Orange’ in the new traffic light system. Taking into account the government’s guidelines alongside the advice from the New Zealand Veterinary Council, Lincoln Village Vets will be implementing the following strategy to maintain a good level of safety for staff, patients and clients.

**Please do not visit the clinic if you are unwell**

· It is now a requirement that all eligible clients entering our clinic
are fully vaccinated for COVID-19
· Please wear your face mask. If you are unable to do so, but are
fully vaccinated, we will arrange to see your pet outside or for a
drop-off appointment if needed.
· For contact tracing purposes, please check-in via the QR code on
entering the clinic.

We are currently not able to accept new clients who are not fully vaccinated, however, we are committed to continuing our care of existing patients. Please let us know when you make your appointment if you are not fully vaccinated, we are happy to arrange a contactless drop-off – similar to our arrangement during the Level 4 lockdowns.

At Lincoln Village Vets we understand everyone’s personal decisions around vaccinations and respect individual choices. Our responsibility is to the pets in our community and we remain100% committed to providing the best possible care for them.

Thank you for your ongoing support in helping to protect our people so that we can continue to keep your pets safe.

The power of microchipping😊
Happy Odin, safely back home💕
We love microchipped cats .. not only does it help reunite lost cats with their families, but it also helps us to contact owners quickly when injured cats are brought into the clinic.

Lincoln resident Audrey Ross had almost given up hope of ever getting her much loved cat back after he went missing 20 months ago.

07/09/2021

First of all, a big thank you to each & every one of you. The understanding and ongoing support throughout the Lincoln Community during Level 4 & 3 has once again been awesome.

As we have moved into Level 2, please be aware that face masks will be mandatory for all people over the age of 12 entering the building. If you are unable to wear a face mask comfortably, please phone us on 03 3257250 and we will be happy to make arrangements for a contactless appointment for your pet.

We are now open for all procedures and our clinic hours will return to 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 12pm on Saturdays.

Due to social distancing guidelines, we request that you avoid bringing children into the clinic wherever possible. A maximum of 1 client will be allowed into the consult room and social distancing must be observed. Please continue to phone orders for food and repeat medication through in advance so that we can have them ready for collection.

Our entry door will remain locked for large parts of the day. We require that all clients phone ahead for an appointment. Please phone us once you have arrived in the car park.

We have had some busy days over the last week & we thank you so much for your kindness and patience. We are doing our very best to respond to all emails, texts and phone calls in a timely fashion. We apologise if over the coming weeks, this may be taking a little longer than usual due to high volumes. Your pets’ wellbeing remains our top priority. For this reason, we will not be able to make any exceptions when it comes to mandatory face masks to be worn over mouth and nose at all times inside the building.

Thank you for your support.

WE ARE IN LOCKDOWN

COVID-19 Alert Level 4

Vets are classed an "essential service" and we will remain open during the level 4 lockdown.
From Wednesday morning, we will not be allowing entrance into the clinic of any owners (ie human beings). Entrance will be restricted to pets.

The door will be locked at all times and we request that you remain in your car until such time as we are ready to see your pet, then bring them to the door and hand them to a member of staff. Please do not ask us to make exceptions about allowing you to accompany your pet into the clinic.

Orders for prescriptions or food can be placed online at [email protected] or by phone on 03 3257250. They can be collected daily in the afternoon between 2.00pm and 3pm

We will be restricting routine services so as to enable us to concentrate on sick animals and emergencies.

Thank you everyone for your patience and consideration. We have done this before & we can do it again 😌

Take care & stay safe.
