Our aim is to breed and train quality horses for the NZ sport horse market. We produce both pure and part-bred Lusitanos for sale.
Our foundation Stallion Xerife, and 2 Pure-bred mares Bahama & Briosa were imported from Europe (all Pre-bred Lusitanos) as our foundation stock, we have since brought a proven TB mare Sunday and this year also covered a Pure-bred Appaloosa mare to add some variety. So far all the foals produced have been of excellent quality. We also take horses in for Training, and will teach you on your own hor
se. From time to time we take in unwanted TB horses off the track and re-school them, so they can have a successfull career after racing.

Introducing MCL Urania (Xerife/Briosa) one of our purebred lusitano fillies. She is an exceptional looking horse with plenty of presence and 3 strong paces, who loves attention and always keen for a good scratch and snuggle. This beautiful girl is now weaned and looking for her new home.

I’m at Equifest again this year, but this year Xerife will not be going, instead I’m looking for 2-3 riders who want to be my demo riders! If you’d like the opportunity to be involved with showcasing this sport and available to bring your horse down for the show, please get in touch with me. To be eligible you MUST be confident working your horse in a busy environment and able to ride all obstacles at a canter.

MCL Sabedoria is a part-bred Lusitano gelding that presents a loving quiet temperament, natural movement and breeding to match.
He is a super sweet 18month old gelding who is always friendly and loves his cuddles, but never pushy or overpowering. He is easy to handle, good for the farrier, easy to load/travel/catch, leads well and is used to rugs. He is also a great doer requiring very little feeding, and is always the first at the gate to say hi. He is now ready for his next stage in life, and I have no doubt he will excel under saddle in whatever your chosen discipline. If you are looking for a horse to be your lifetime partner and have endless adventures with, then Sabe is definitely your man.

I may have only been a part of your life for the past 9, but it has been an absolute privilege to look after you in your retirement and final years here in NZ. You were one of the sweetest horses I have come across always soft, kind and generous in everything you did.
Rest easy now knowing your legacy will always live on in the hearts of the people you touched, the youngstock you have left behind and those still to come 💕

A little late, but better late than never 😂. Our only purebred born this year arrived on 28th October at 12.30am. This gorgeous little filly (Xerife/Briosa) is a full sister to one I have retained for future breeding and she looks destined to be just as lovely!

Last day together for these two cuties. Our little orphan from last year MCL Skyfall headed off to her new home today. These 2 have been inseparable since the legendary TB Sam, took on the responsibility of both foals. It was a bitter sweet moment seeing them separated from each other, but also exciting to see her head off, on the next part of her journey, where I know she will be very much loved and adored 🥰

Weaning time here at Mystery Creek and with 5 foals it's a little chaotic to say the least, with plenty of bowl swapping during feeding time. Not to mention poor Tiki who is wondering why there are so many to look after this year😂 not sure he agrees with this part of his job.

When your family all go off on holiday and you realise you now need to lead the mare and her 2 foals 🤣🤣 attempt 1 this morning….. I’m classing as a success albeit also very awkward!! let’s hope for continuing success as the days go on and babies don’t realise I only have limited control 😆
