Making the decision about euthanasia for your pet is incredibly difficult, but it’s important to consider their quality of life. Look for signs that your pet may be in pain or discomfort, such as difficulty eating, moving, or breathing.
Other indicators include:

Changes in Behavior – If your pet becomes unusually withdrawn, irritable, or hides more than usual, it could be a sign they’re not feeling well.

Decreased Activity – Is your pet reluctant to play, go for walks, or engage in activities they normally love? Pain may be the cause.

Changes in Appetite – Pain can make it hard for pets to eat or drink. If they’re eating less or refusing food altogether, it’s worth checking in with your vet. However, an animal in pain may still be eating normally as well.

Limping or Difficulty Moving – Any lameness, stiffness, or signs of difficulty walking may indicate discomfort.

Excessive Grooming or Scratching – Pain in specific areas can lead to excessive grooming, licking, or scratching.

Vocalisation – Whining, whimpering, or even growling when touched could signal pain or discomfort.

Posture Changes – If your pet is hunching their back, standing differently, or holding their body in a stiff position, it could be a sign of pain.

Is your pet still able to enjoy life, or are daily activities becoming more difficult for them? Can they still take care of their basic needs like eating, going outside for a walk, or using the litter tray? Are they showing signs of pain?

If you choose Gentle Waters Pet Cremation, our sister company, to handle aftercare, your pet will not be placed in bags or frozen.
