Positives of this freezing cold weather (and we didn’t even get rained on) 💙
Yukon is making sure she doesn't miss any of the last chances to have a good roll in the frozen grass…🐶
A bit of a treat for the dogs this morning - a random dump of spring snow!! A fair bit settled until it all disappeared again quickly ❄️❄️
Making the most of frosty mornings while we can! 🐾🐾❄️
This video shows why the race had to be cancelled on Saturday, a lot of the trails looked like this - and the wind was not pleasant in the exposed parts just about blowing us off the track! It also shows how resilient and hard working the Siberians are - our wee girls had snow above their bellies in the deep parts but they kept chugging along like wee troopers and had a great time ploughing through the snow!
The dogs & mushers in their happy place! ❄️❄️❄️
The dogs enjoyed a good leg stretch this morning when the sun had finally come out after all the crazy rain and there was a light frost on the ground ☀️❄️
A light frost this morning - first one this year (we were starting to wonder if winter would arrive at all)! Appropriate for taking the rig out for a spin 😬❄️❄️
A nice cool morning today for the wee girls to go for a Bikejor 👍🐾🐾
There has to be one extra special in every pack...Razor went missing yesterday and this was discovered after lots of calling and following strange rustling in the bushes... 😳🤦🏼♀️
Razor test driving his new Amundsen Pack - it seems to stay in place well even during silly games ! 😁

A sneaky spin on the rig this morning to make the most of the cold weather!
One useful thing to work on during the lockdown (as you can do this anywhere ): teaching your dog to “line out” ie keeping the line tight when you are getting ready to go running/biking/scootering/sledding etc. This makes your life a lot easier especially with an exitable dog (and even more so if you run several of them at the same time). It’s not quite this easy when there are distractions and other dogs etc around, but when the dogs know what is expected of them it still makes it a lot easier in any situation. I do training with each dog individually and also all of them at the same time in the gangline. We very rarely get tangles even in race situations where the dogs are bouncing around a lot more. Even if you don’t race, when your dog knows how to do this, it is very helpful in a variety of situations out on the trails. Repetition is the key! 🐾🐾
Cooler weather came just in time for lockdown- the team are happy to be back into work!!
I managed to get a good head start to the NZ winter - beautiful conditions here in Finland for skijoring on the frozen lake! Featuring Halla my parents' Finnish Lapphund, she may be small but she loves to run and does great at skijoring as well as pulling her wee kicksled.
