Here’s is some belated photos of our Pony Club Trek where we raised $2200 for the club rooms.

A massive thank you to everyone who came out and rode on the farm. We were very spoilt by the weather gods which meant we got stunning views of Banks Peninsula.

Its always wonderful to get ponies and riders to do different rides.

Waihora Pony Club April 2022 Open Days
These open days are being held in place of our ODE and to help fundraise to fix up parts of our beloved clubrooms that have asbestos.
We are opening our extensive pony club grounds over the Easter holidays for the first time in many years. (Usually the grounds are closed for ODE preparation.) Come along and use our grounds to prepare for the eventing season. There will be lots of toys for you and your horse to play with including:
• A flagged and numbered cross-country course with jumps of various heights from 45cm to 105cm including the awesome Waihora water jump and keyhole jump
• A numbered show jump course in our large 70m x 50m sand arena – you can set the height to what you would like
• A grass dressage arena
• Bookable 3hr sessions (limited to 10 riders so you won't be crowded). If you are a Pony Club and want to do a block booking please contact Jules on 0210 237 9653
• $30 per horse per session

Double checking the PC fundraising trek track for this coming Sunday At 201 Kaituna Valley Road.
Based on Tangos ears I think its fair to say he loved it. Great fitness for your horses and as you can see… Stunning views. Short and long options available. Ride with your mates at your speed or go on a slow guided group. No horsey shoes required

Save the Date 27th March 🙂 Kaituna Valley Area
Waihora PC Fundraising Friendly Hill Farm Trek with beautiful views. A well earned BBQ afterwards.
Sadly we are fundraising as some parts of beloved club rooms has asbestos… Stinkarooney
We will have aim to have a flat ride, a slow hill group and a faster hill group. (Fingers crossed something for everyone). Parents encouraged to walk with the younger ones.
Sadly no pooches please as its a working farm.

Day 2 of South Island Show Jump Champs
Waihora Pony Club looked amazing in their Black and White. A great couple of days learning loads, having a laugh and melting in the heat. Jade was an awesome mentor teaching riders and parents the different SJ classes. Waihora team placed 20th out of 34 teams which we are pretty stoked with considering the ups and downs
Jade showed the team how to fly in the 105 jumping the joker fence that was probably 120cm. Our draft riders Hannah and Alyssa were fantastic and fun to get to know. Billy and Lucy rocked the clear rounds and Fern has found a new coach in Cherie Miller 💕
Bring on 2023 and we have a full team.

Day 1 -South Island Show Jump Champs at West Eyreton day one: we with horses we know it’s an up and down journey but all riders smiling at the end of the day and parents wilting as I’m sure it was 30 degrees 🥵
Alyssa our intermediate rider from Blenheim doing us proud 🤩 with 2 placing a in top 10.

Waihora Pony Club Camp was a fantastic start to the October school holidays. The Kids had lots of fun doing lessons, games, craft and a movie with their pony club friends. Big shout out to all the wonderful parents who made this event happen.

XC and dressage action

A slower update due to too much fun being had while potentially developing scurvy (aka not a lot of vegetables).

Springston Trophy in southland has kicked off for waihora with a hiss and a roar.

Our non-racing steeds are staying at the Ascot Raceway, where they are getting to mingle with trotters and gallopers. The girls rode the sand track the first night to stretch the horses legs.
I don’t know if many race industry get to see horses with face paint on, nor a paint on the race track. I think they are intrigued but are a very helpful bunch.

After dressage and XC the girls and their furry teammates are sitting 7th overall. We are well stoked.

All of them rode clear on XC yesterday. Bloody ripper result on wet grounds but sunny skies.

Massive Thanks goes to our cowboy coach Scott Glassey who is known for his excellent somewhat confusing but very inspirational speeches.

Quotes include “We are going to war so we need meatballs for breakfast”
“Todays a good day to die”.

Thankfully we all came back successfully from war yesterday. Parents drank lovely fancy bubbles to celebrate that “No vets nor ambulances were needed”… out of beer bottles because “The manager” forgot to bring glasses. Let’s just call it unique.

And then a lovely sunny sit down in the Melwood Equestrian Truck for a debrief.

Today SJ order is intermediates, seniors then juniors.

Prizegiving, then homeward bound journey stopping on Cromwell for the night.

Springston Trophy 2021 adventures and shenanigans for Waihora PC are well underway.
Safely travelled to Cromwell yesterday with this morning filled with riding the champs XC course (Thank you Cromwell Pony Club- bloody ripper) and this afternoon filled with Highland Motor Sports… go kart racing , and very loud squealing at 180km an hour on the race track. Dinner out with the fabulous team from Melwood Equestrian and home for yarn spinning and maybe whiskey. Hard to say who’s having more fun…. The kids, ponies or parents. Southland watch out- Waihora is on its way.
