CALM STARTS 👏🏻 Why do I do a calm start at the beginning of every walk? Because it gives the dogs a chance to collect themselves & get in tune with me and my expectations before they are given their free time! Here is an example from our Tuesday morning crew where they decided to take their time....🙄 Once a crew or new dog has done this a few times, they understand what's expected to earn that off leash moment, but just like with humans, they have days where they need reminding! When this happens, each dog is corrected vocally and gently reminded that their butt is not to leave the ground until I've removed leads and given the command. [Proud Post] ⬇️ 👊🏻 We got praised for our control yesterday morning 😁👏🏻 While walking onto the beach, of course all dogs leashed, a couple with their dog on lead were coming towards the track to exit. We moved over to the side and got into our group sit. After the man had gone past with their dog, the lady came over and thanked us for the space and control as their dog has aggression issues. This is exactly why structure and control are so important as a pack walker and why no matter where we are and how busy or quiet it is, we practice every, single, walk!
