FOUND: Julian Place, Westown, New Plymouth.

This beautiful girl has been hanging around a property in Westown for the last few days. She is quite tame, although hard to catch! 😅

Has no microchip and is in good condition. She is currently being looked after in a 4x4 run with plenty of hay and pellets.

She is a tan/caramel colour with some dark patches ~ possibly a domesticated wildie x.

Please message us if she is yours ~ proof of ownership will be required 👍🏻

We have some wonderful people who have offered up space in their vehicles to drive any animals adopted from us to their new homes in these areas and on these dates is when they'll be there:

Taranaki area Sunday 16th October
Katikati area Friday 21st October
Taupo/Rotorua areas Thursday 27th October
Tauranga area Saturday 26th November

Hi team! If there is anyone in Taranaki looking to adopt from a reputable (and amazing) rescue, please reach out to Auckland Cavy Care 🙏💕🐰🐹

We've had a wonderful offer from a fellow rescuer to transport animals down to Taranaki if there's anyone there who would like to adopt from us. They'll be driving back to Taranaki on the 11th of September and on the 16th of October.

Please go through our normal adoption process for each species (currently only have an adoption application on the website for Guinea Pigs and Rabbits).

Please note if you already have an animal and are wanting to introduce the new ones to them we won't be able to do the adoption as it's not fair to send the animals on the trip with the chance their personalities don't match.

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated to help the little kits 🙏💕

Four of them seem to be happy and healthy, but one is not doing too good and may have an abscess in it's nose. It is being treated and is in the best hands, so fingers crossed it will pull through! 🐰🌼

The estimated cost for all of them to be vaccinated and desexed will be around $1600, so here's hoping we can raise that and find them happy homes where they will be loved and cherished ☺️

These little 3 week old orphaned darlings are needing vet treatment and will also need to be vaccinated and desexed 🥺🐰

We hope you are all having a hoppy long weekend! 🐰💕

We wanted to let you know that sadly Hop Stuff will be closing down 🥺
We have had an awesome time making toys and chopping sticks for our gorgeous little customers over the last couple of years, and we have made some incredible friends along the way! 😊

The Hop Stuff human has decided to take a break and spend more quality time with her beautiful buns and whānau.
We can’t say for sure that we won’t be back, but we are shutting up the Hop Shop for now.

Our website still has some toys and spray bottles available, but we will be removing these as they go out of stock.
We were hoping to have some more Timothy hay and apple sticks before we closed, but unfortunately, we have run out of time to get these in.

We just want to give a special shout out to BlueBelle's Bunny Bakery Ltd and Bugs' Bunny Bakery for all the love and support, and to our friends at Christchurch Rabbit Rescue and Raining Rabbits Rescue NZ for your relentless quest to improve rabbit welfare in Aotearoa! A big thank you to Jen and the team at Westley's World and Janine, Sally and the admins of Rabbit Support and Advice NZ for all that you do, you are wonderful! ☺️🌼

Please help these amazing rescues if you can 🐰🙏💕

We are joining forces with Christchurch Rabbit Rescue

Why? Because we are struggling to keep our head above water ALONE!

It saddens myself and Lucy every day to see how much is given by organisations, businesses and members of the public to other companion animals while rabbits are forgotten every time!

While we could be putting our energy into projects to help educate New Zealand on better rabbit care, we are Instead, spending our days trying to find more ways to fundraise, or we are working full time to pay for it ourselves.

Paw Justice while you are feeding all the homeless animals of Aotearoa, you are forgetting about the rabbits completely. You have the connections to help us. Please help us!

Since January 1st of 2022 Raining Rabbits Rescue have spent $18,684.70 on vet bills! That’s NOT including food, that’s NOT including hay, that’s NOT including emergency vet visits, that’s NOT including supplies to set foster homes up.

In the last 6 weeks, Christchurch Rabbit Rescue have spent $4,526. on vet bills alone and are heavily constricted by funds. If they had more they could help more and there are so many more!

So we ask you, can you spare $1 a week? Maybe you can spare a $1 a day? Whatever you can afford, we will be so grateful! All you have to do is start a weekly donation with us and we will add you to our group where you will get weekly updates from BOTH rescues.

Imagine if 1000 people gave $1 a week? We would each have $500 to spend on vet bills, food, enclosures, enrichment and even community support! We would love to help desex and vaccinate rabbits in the community!

INDOOR GUINEA PIG FOSTER HOMES NEEDED:

In the past two weeks we've had 29 Guineas come into the rescue. This includes 3 babies who were born here today.

We need foster homes for the following:

2 x 3ish month old boys.
2 x adult females (one or both pregnant still) & 1 baby - FOSTER HOME FOUND.
3 x adult females (two pregnant still) & 7 babies.

We can supply c&c caging, hay, pellets, water bowl, igloos, litter tray, towels and fleeces.

Here at CRR, we have no issues being transparent 🪞

Heres our vet balance for 2022 so far as we close out of this financial year 🥵 and this isn’t even everything we have on our books for right now!

We have 11 vaccinations 💉, 7 neuters 🍒, 6 spays ✂️and 13 microchips 💽 to pay for 😵‍💫 thats a whopping $4,449 left to find in vet bills alone, who knows how many more buns we will need to help on top of that too 🥺
We also power through a 10kg bag of Burgess Adult every 2 ish weeks, which annually amounts to approx $2,314 🤯

Can you miss one muffin at morning tea this week? One energy drink? 🍔☕️ and help us save the world one bun at a time 🌏 it might be one coffee to you, but it means everything to the buns and us 🐰
You’ll be able to claim 33.33% back through the IRD with our charitable status 🤑 and it would help our fluffy friends on their journeys to finding their forever homes 🏡

Please adopt don’t shop! 🙏💕 Rescues up and down NZ are overflowing with Bunnies in need of a loving home 🏡🐇

😒 They keep breeding despite the lack of suitable homes.
😒 They keep breeding despite the increasing numbers of unwanted rabbits in rescues, turned away or abandoned.
😒 They sell unneutered rabbits, resulting in unwanted litters.
😒 They often mis-sex the babies resulting in unwanted litters.
😒 They rarely home-check, some even offer a courier service!
😒 They breed rabbits prone to health issues (Brachycephalic, mini-lops, lionheads, angora, giants etc.)
😒They often advertise rabbits as suitable for children and happy with cats, dogs, noise and give unsuitable advice if any.
😒 They advertise rabbits at Christmas and Easter.
😒 They don't take their sick animals to the vet.
😒 They get rid of their 'breeding stock' when no longer profitable.
😒 They refuse to admit they add to the problem.
😒 They believe they are indispensable to the survival of the rabbit species and are doing rabbits a favour by breeding them.

There is NOTHING responsible about rabbit breeding!
Please don't encourage them and only adopt from a reputable rescue centre.

Our beautiful rescue girl Muffin is going in for her spay tomorrow 🐰💕

It’s always so nerve racking when bunnies are anaesthetised, but she’ll be in the best hands with the team at Vets4Pets 😋

Potchi was so eager to open the box, as soon as I put it down. 😂Obvious bun certified approval from him already! The bun fun bundle had great variety to alternate with, so your bunny can never get bored! The bunbell is currently Potchi’s favourite 😍

Poor wee Minnie 😥 Please donate if you can 🙏

Last year we took in a surrender of this lovely lady, Minnie. She has been living very happily at a permanent foster home. Last week she managed to injure her eye, she was taken to the vet and given meds to see if the swelling would come down, and it has.

Sadly after 3 vet visits, we now know for sure, the eye cannot be saved and will need it to be removed. So, Minnie is booked in on Friday for the eye removal, it will cost somewhere from $500 to $1000.

Vet costs like this are like bolts out of the blue for our small charity to manage, but we have to try for her.
Please can you help with a donation to get Minnie on the road to recovery?

URGENT HELP NEEDED!

Our friends at Raining Rabbits Rescue NZ desperately need foster homes for their rescue bunnies! 🐰

The more foster homes they have, the more precious lives are saved 🏡

All you need is a spare room, bathroom or safe space away from other animals, and some time and patience 💕
Raining Rabbits will do the rest, including making sure you’re all set up, cover any food/vet costs and support you along the way 👍🏻

You would be making a HUGE difference and giving a special little rabbit a chance at life! 🌼🐇

Needing a forever or foster home!

After being abandoned at one of our foster homes Ruby and Oreo quickly became volunteer favourites at the rescue!

The volly's have sad they will all be very sad when these two leave! But it's time for them to find their happy ever after in their forever home!

Being the favourites of the rescue you'd be truly lucking out to adopt this bonded pair! Incredibly lovely, loving, loving of each other, attentive, chilled, happy...- everything and more you could ever want in a pair of rabbits! These two are also amazing at using their litter box, always come to say hi , and see what treats are on offer of course!
Hehe, and love grasstime so much they binky all over with delight!

Being crosses with dwarfs they're also the cutest pair you'll ever lay your eyes on! If you're ready to fall in love with rabbits these are the ones!!!

Can you help Graham? 🐰💕

Meet Graham 🎩

Graham is a very sweet lad, who isn’t quite sold on people but is learning some of us only come bearing treatos!

Sadly for Graham he was “set free” at Christmas time when most of the neighbours were away 🥺 This meant it took at least 3 weeks for help to be called for him, and all this while he was getting about with a sore footie 🦶 his owners never came forward nor owned up despite many knowing which property Graham originally lived on

The exact causes of the sore foot remain unknown until Graham learns to speak, however it’s obvious he will at the very least need xrays to see if surgical intervention is needed to ensure he is not in any pain 💊 We’re staring down the barrel of at least $400, nearing $2000 if we have to stabilise his joints in surgery 💸

Humans have let Graham down in the past and be damned if we are going to let him down too.
Can you spare us $1? If each person who saw this post gave us just $1, we would have Grahams xrays covered with enough left over for a pack of treats!

Severe weather warning issued for Taranaki 🐰🐹 ⛈ Bunny and Guinea Pig parents please bring your fur babies inside from tomorrow before 1pm 🙏

It’s super important to have a plan to keep your pets safe when bad weather strikes 🏡 🌩 Have an emergency pack ready ~ including a carrier, water, bowls, hay, water, food and any medications your pet is taking should you need to evacuate 🚙

Outdoor enclosures can easily be flooded or picked up by the wind, so make sure these are secure and have a high/dry area if you absolutely cannot bring your pets inside 👍🏻
