Another common question we are asked “Are your kittens used to dogs?”
Answer: Our kittens while on the Ranch mainly only get to see our dogs through the windows or when they are running around in the outside cattery.
As long as your dog is cat friendly and the introduction is done at their speed they should become fast friends! 🤣
Do we allow our Ragdolls to be outside cats?
I know some breeders say that their Ragdolls are strictly indoor only pets but here at Ragdoll Ranch we are happy for our Ragdolls to go outside.
AS LONG AS THEIR OWNERS LIVE IN A SAFE AREA OR HAVE A SAFE SECTION AND THE RAGDOLL IS ALWAYS INSIDE AT NIGHT.
Like any cat, Ragdolls do like to feel the wind in their fur and sun on their backs.
As you can see by the photos we have quite a few living rural and from the feedback we get most of the Ragdolls are extremely good hunters!
Mainly mice and rats. 🙀
I know Google says Ragdolls can’t hunt but remember Ragdolls are a CAT so if the Ragdoll has the desire and the opportunity they will hunt!!
If you don’t live in a safe area, there are other options.
Harness training - we are happy to talk you through this.
Containment fencing - there are many great ideas out there.
If containment fencing is not an option Catios off the house are also a great idea.
Did you know when Ragdolls are born they are completely white!
By the time they are 24 hrs old we can usually tell if they are going to be a Point (they get a smudge of colour on their nose leather) or Bi Colour (their nose leather stays pink).
The main colours we breed are - Seal (dark chocolate colour) and Blue (grey colour). Every now and then we are lucky and get Chocolate (milk chocolate colour).
In April 2024 we finally produced our first Lilac’s which we are very excited about! 🎉🎊
We get asked a lot when we post kitten photos what will they look like as Adults.
So we thought we would do a comparison of a 4 week old kitten and then the same kitten as an adult.
The comparisons that aren’t the same kitten/cat is the Seal Point as Heaven the adult came to us as a 4 year old so we have used a photo of one of her sons and the Lilac Point as they are still only young kittens so we just have a photo of one of our 4 week old Lilac Point kittens so have used a photo off the web for an adult Lilac point.
We only breed the patterns Point or Bi Colour.
Are your Ragdolls brought up around children?
This season the kittens will have my little grandson Koda to play with (or hide from as he gets soooo excited when he sees cats).
Koda is just over 2 years old and is with me most days as he comes to Grannie Daycare while his parents work. ❤️
How the kitten settles with children completely comes down to how the child is with the kitten. If the child is gentle and gives the kitten time to settle they generally become firm friends.
Kittens will put up with a lot if they feel safe with a child as some of these photos show but if the child just terrorises the kitten they will want nothing to do with the child.
Just a little heads up I do look after my 2 year old grandson Koda most day during the week while his mummy and daddy work.
I will do my best to answer messages straight away but if I take a little longer it maybe because Koda is demanding Grannie’s full attention!
It also will mean visiting times will be worked around his nap times as he loves to meet everyone and show the kittens off too! 🤣

WE DO NOT RUN A WAITING LIST OR TAKE DEPOSITS FOR KITTENS THAT HAVEN’T BEEN BORN!!
If you are seriously interested in a kitten we suggest you let us know and keep an eye on our page. We announce when litters arrive and then when the babies are around 4 weeks old we post individual photos of each kitten and take enquires from there.
Just because you might be the first to enquire doesn’t always mean you will get the baby!
Please don’t be offend if I ask questions about you, your family and home. I like to know a little about the families wanting to adopt my babies as I feel very responsible for each and every baby that is born at Ragdoll Ranch.
I am there when they arrive into this world and take their first breath. I watch them grow and develop into the beautiful babies that leave Ragdoll Ranch.
We are happy for people to visit but only when the kittens are over 4 weeks of age. Please don’t be offended if we ask you to wait a little longer to visit. Sometimes we have girls due or mummies that are having a little trouble settling with their babies so we try to keep things calm for them.
Unless going to a like minded Registered breeder all our kittens are DESEXED before leaving Ragdoll Ranch.
All our Kings and Queens are DNA tested clear for HCM & PKD and have all recently had vet checks.
We realise waiting can be hard and instead of waiting you may decide to buy off Trade Me or other social media place.
PLEASE BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL there are a lot of scammers out there at present that will say anything to make easy money!! Be aware some scammers have been know to steal photos and videos of kittens just to make out they are legit!!

If they say they are registered with either New Zealand Cat Fancy (NZCF) https://nzcf.com/breed or CATZ Inc https://catzinc.org/breeders-list/ you can check on the websites or contact the organisation’s secretaries (contact details on the websites) to double check. Some registered breeders do prefer not to list their names on the websites so do check with the secretaries if need.

You probably didn't know this but the cats had a 'Human Show' yesterday!
The cat judges from the 'Human Fanciers' Association' choose a human based on temperament, coat quality, even ear shape! and each human is thoroughly assessed by the human species standard. All humans are health tested and fully vaccinated.
Since I am part of the inner cat circle, one of the top cat judges sent me this picture of one of their ' best in show' in the small human category!
Well done to the cats on another successful human show!

With Ralph leaving that marks the end of our 2023-24 breeding season.
It has been a wonderful season meeting lots of new families that have joined our Ranchdolls /Adoradolls family and welcoming back a few families that decided one just wasn’t enough!!
And I can’t forget my little right hand man Koda who has been with me every step of the way. He is in for a big shock next week as he has no little furry friends to play with!

Hope everyone has had a great Easter. 🐣 We have had a nice relaxing Easter at home keeping an eye on a couple of mummy’s to be that are due soon. Little update on Clementine’s 3 little ladies (yes they are all females!) they are doing fantastic. There is 2 Blue Bi Colours and a Blue Point in the litter. Now to think of their registered names starting with the letter i. Ideas would be very welcome!

Are my kittens brought up around children? At the moment yes they are! My adorable little Grandson Koda is here most days and he just loves the kittens and meeting their new families.

I am always asked how do your kittens get on with dogs since we don’t have dogs inside the house only outside. I say as long as the dog/s is cat friendly they will be come firm friends fast! Here is a little proof Billy aka Ranchdolls Achey Breaky Heart left less than 24hrs ago and he is already firm friends with his doggy sisters!!
Here is Koda trying to get the kittens to come up close to him but the kittens know if they do they might get their ears pulled. Funny thing is while they move away they always come back!! We are teaching Koda to be gentle but he gets so excited his little arms just fly around. Please note he is never left alone with a teaser. They are always put up high when I’m not in the room.
Hugo aka Ranchdolls Yankee Doodle has only been in his new home for a couple of hours and he is already wrapping his new mum around his little paw ❤️❤️
For the families that have visited and seen our little Christmas display at the end of the drive here it is with all the lights going as promised. 😊
For days the kittens have been teasing my little Koda Bear!! As soon as he got with in reach they would move!!! But this afternoon they stayed still!!! Karisma yes that is Miss Mia Excuse the mess in the lounge but Grannie Cleans up once Koda goes home 😊

Yesterday we told Nana we are big kids now and should be allowed to run around the WHOLE kitten room. Nana said just a few more days to make sure we all know how to use the litter boxes then she will let us out. Over night we came up with an escape plan and executed it purrfectly!! 🤣 Nana has now taken the pen away incase one of us gets hurt climbing over it.
