While we await Councils permission to rebuild our tack shed & clubrooms we’ve been putting in the mahi this winter clearing the fire debris, replanting & upgrading our arena, ready for the new season to start next month!

This new arena is the direct result of 10years of fundraising efforts by past & present members & supporters 🙏

PSA 🚨 Attention pony lovers!

Our popular Riders without Horses program is back!

WIPC are looking to reintroduce the popular Riders Without Horses program where kids with no prior experience or access to ponies can learn to ride and care for horses at Pony Club.

This is an after school program run by coaches throughout the term.
Over the past 3 years we’ve had over 60 kids participate and the feedback & enthusiasm has been incredible every season.

If you’re keen to get your child off screens & learning something new in a fun environment outdoors - we’re taking registrations now!

Spaces are limited but we’d like to cater for everyone so please email with no obligation your child’s name & age to:

Kia ora Equine Community,

It’s been just over three weeks since a fire took hold and severely damaged our Club Rooms and Tack Shed. It was a heartbreaking evening for our Pony Club and we have been incredibly grateful and heartened by the many offers of assistance, donation of equipment and financial contributions from across the country.

Thanks to the NZPCA for their support and guidance, the Waiheke Adult Riding Club for temporarily housing our ponies – and particularly Caroline Ryan for the hours and hours of her time and invaluable assistance. We have also been supported by Auckland Council who have provided security fencing for the fire damaged buildings, The Waiheke Island Volunteer Fire Brigade, Sealink for assistance in transporting feed for horses, Waiheke Hire for providing a generator to pump the water to the troughs, Jamie Waldon for giving his time and digger skills.

We now have emergency tack for the riders whose possessions were destroyed in the tack shed and 150 bales of hay donated for our ponies due to the generosity of The Auckland Central RDA, Mangere Pony Club, Papatoetoe Pony Club – Sarah Hedley and Catrionia Hitchman, The Meadowbank Pony Club and Allison Ferguson, The Ashhurst Pony Club and Heather and Zoe Hewitt, Wendy Cooper, Toni Tanner and Alice Haywood, Bryony Cole and Jess and Rita Newton. Generous donors have also anonymously dropped off gear and of course we are so grateful to many supporters who have contributed to the Give-a-little-page.

Our members are very much back in the saddle - and for the first time in nearly ten years the Waiheke Island Pony Club will be sending a team to compete off Island at the Manukau Area Champs this weekend - and while all of this is incredibly positive, it won’t be an easy task to rebuild and repair what has been damaged.

We are currently working through the lengthy insurance process – it’s likely that we will have a significant funding shortfall to complete the rebuild. Many people have asked us how they can assist with our current situation. The simple answer is that a financial contribution that will go towards the construction of new facilities is what is needed most.

Once our insurance status is resolved, we will be launching an ‘Operation Rebuild’ campaign with clear targets and purpose and will share this with you all.
We are working towards securing a new date to host a combined 50th Anniversary Celebration and the Yellow Stone theme fundraiser.
