A milestone moment today, having my first sit on Donny after coming back from the breakers. We bought him as a weanling so it’s felt like a long wait. He’s been a super ugly duckling over the past couple of years but he’s 17.2hh now and starting to fill out into a nice looking horse. His breeding is Zonik/Don Bosco 🐎

Donny had his last outing today before going off to be started next week. Not that I have much time at the moment, but I am really looking forward to being able to ride him. It’s always a long wait watching them grow from a gangly weanling into (hopefully) a flash horse!

Squeezed in a few shows with the ponies before the end of the season. Forest was Champion Youngstock this morning at Kumeu and Bons was Champion Novice Riding Horse. She was also Res Champ at Morrinsville last weekend and scored a 73% and 75% at AMDG. Lucky they are both chill and easy to take out, they both just got a bit fat on holiday while I was pregnant 😆

As our tenant is sadly moving south our cottage is coming up for rent at the end of January. Located on our 10 acre equestrian property this is a rare opportunity to live with your horses on site just 30min (off peak) to the CBD.
There are 2 bedrooms with a modern kitchen and attached double garage with plenty of storage. The cottage gets all day sun and has a north facing deck. There is a heat pump, ceiling fan and auto garage door. The cottage has views over the paddocks, arena and is well separated from the main house. Access to Riverhead Forest is just across the road. Water and lawn mowing is included in the rent.
Maximum of two occupants. No cats or dogs sorry. We are looking for long term tenants who are tidy and reliable. References and 4x weeks bond will be required.
Rent is $650 and includes grazing for one horse. Note the grazing will be on a separate agreement. Grazing for an extra 1-2 horses optional at an extra cost. See full grazing details on photos.

Forest being a good boy today with Suzy on board. Such a chilled out 3 year old. Marble our cat has dutifully kept up his supervision duties since Forest was born 😆

Donny coped well with his first outing on Monday. It’s great we have some local inhand shows. I figure the more outings the babies can have, the easier my life will be when I actually have to ride and compete a newly broken XL warmblood in a couple of years time!
