POTENTIAL LAST SEASON STANDING!
Unfortunately this may be Gus’s last season standing at stud due to us wanting to downsize.
Due to this his stud fee for this season will be $450 no LFG! $200 non refundable deposit required.

Dick Waitoa Bred Clydesdale cross Stallion

Gus is a Perlino (EE Aa CrCr) so can produce Buckskin and Smokey Black foals - or double dilute foals if your mare carries a cream gene.

He stands between 15.1-2hh (has not been professionally measured).

Gus not only has a personality to die for but has the perfect amount of bone! He is run with mares, foals, geldings and has been run with another stallion with no issues. If temperament is something you are wanting look no further!
He has an amazing jump and has the potential to be a hunter - however time is limited at home and we have not got to that!
All his foals have so far all grown to be tall and all seem to bulk out once they are over one.

Gus stands in Waipu Northland. Walk in walk out is preferred. However we can work with you as a mare owner to find what suits you best 😅

For now he deserves a good winter break just chilling out with his girlfriends

Gus was his typical self, this was all the action we got!
Gus has had a long season with all mares so far scanned in foal, he’s tired and just wants cuddles now 🥰

New paddock for the girls tonight...well Titan you’re not a girl but you might aswell be 🤣

Today while working with my young horse Tex I noticed Gus was rather jealous...pulling my treat bag out of my truck and holding it while looking at me 😅 so I decided to try something new...lunging but without a rope which he picked up extremely quickly! Especially considering I’ve done lunging what 3-4 times ever? It took him about one minute to figure it out, if that. The hardest part was asking for a direction change which at first he just couldn’t get his head around. This was the end result of our short 15 minute session. I like to keep them short otherwise he losses interest. 

Play time between thunder and Gus 😅

My first session with Texas (Tex for short). He arrived yesterday, 3 year old colt...getting gelded on Monday for good reasons! He has no manners, he couldn’t just stand, he would move around, rear, paw at the ground, try nibble at me or get right in my space. Tex is completely deaf which is why I’m using hand signals. This is the end of our short 30 minute session, just standing and backing out of my space. He’s a sweet boy to people but just has no manners, however is the most aggressive horse towards other horses I’ve even owned and I’ve owned some aggressive horses! Hopefully gelding will calm him down. I cannot wait to learn what he has to teach me and will be very interesting to see how he responds to different things, especially as I will need to think of a different way of “clicker training” him due to him being deaf

I always take two steps forward and one step back to make sure my young horses foundation is really set in their brain, last time we rode we trotted and did a lot more moving forward whereas today we went back to the basics, making sure he can turn with my arm directing him but using my leg to “steer” him. I applied the stop with my weight/legs as I would in my western saddle bareback which he picked up very quickly!

Ughhh do I have to! 🤣
