Today,
my staff put me out in the sun so I could have one last nap in the warmth and enjoy toasty fur,
made a lovely cross for me,
read me the goodbye letter and showed me all the crafted goodies made by the neighbour's kid,
dug the hole in the shade of a beautiful kauri,
lined it with comfy fern,
and then, together with friends, did the hard bit and put me to rest back in papatūānuku's lap.
I love it here. It is quiet and smells of bush.
And I can see my beautiful castle from here, too.
And as a bonus, during the funeral, we had three pīwakawaka flit around us and chirp their final squeaky goodbye, too.
What a lovely ceremony.
Don't cry, my underlings. I am at peace now.
