Milou getting extra milkies…. Milou and Dolly have been checked out by the vets after we noticed Milou being low on energy lately, and had started supplement feeding. The vet thinks we are right that Dolly doesn’t produce enough milk (she was NOT happy about the vet squeezing her teats and let the spit fly). We are perfecting our cria feeding techniques. If you are visiting this summer, you can help out with the feeding schedule

Nova is staying well away from the food fight between Nightshade and Echo. Alpaca are generally mild mannered but put some pellets between them and there’s spitting, stomping, and in Nightshade’s case squealing.

The morning line up …. Featuring Trelise, Dolly, Milou, Luna, Coco, Indira, Eclipse and Zadie.

A handsome and curious wee lad, it wasn’t hard to get close enough to Milou today to give him another iodine spray

The first night is very nerve wracking for cria owners, but Dolly has done a stellar job at keeping up the milk for Milou

Sometimes it’s hard to comprehend how those little legs can run without falling into tangles. Milou the paddock giraffe

Excitement this morning with the arrival of Milou, a wee snowy boy. Milou’s dam is Dolly, our matriarch. She’s very much the boss but she was excited to let us meet Milou, and give him an iodine spray on the cord stump and clean up the last of the membranes. The sire is Cornerstone Malibu, who goes by the farm name Echo. Echo’s sire is Gilead Astrakhan and dam is Otonga Sagittarius Maribel.
