🚨 👀 IMPORTANT NEWS TO SHARE 👇
This month it has been 6 years since we welcomed our first dogs in our facilities.
We have continued to evolve and grow over these years, seeing some very big changes between then and now. We started out daycare just 2 days a week with only 5-10 dogs each day. And in the weekends we had 5-10 dogs staying overnight. Our first Christmas we had just 9 dogs at our busiest.
This year we finally completed our big build project - our amazing shed and office/reception/shop. This is an indoor facility for daycare and for the little dogs to sleep indoors, also offering a “deluxe” boarding option for big dogs. Initially our resource consent was for 16 dogs overnight but when we had to get a new consent with the shed build we got that changed to 30 dogs overnight.
We are currently now accommodating 20+ dogs on most weekends, and 20-30 daycare dogs each day during the week. Our busiest day we have had was 52 dogs in our care.
When we started, our first born child Fern was only 18 months old, she’s now nearly 8, and since being open we have had our boy Ash, now 4.
The arrival of Ash saw us bring on board Katrina, our first employee. Katrina and I have been on a great ride over these years, forming a great friendship and sister-like family, blending our children together like close cousins. We still have Katrina and we also have Aimee with us full time, as well as having 2 casuals (Keegan and Lexi) for weekend work, plus some great after school helpers and volunteers.
I am extremely proud and humbled of the very successful business we have created. However, as they say, all good things must come to an end!
The time has come to take a step back and put my focus and time in to family. So it is with mixed emotions that we announce that we are going to be putting our house and the kennel/daycare business on the market (hopefully within the next few weeks).
I would like to thank you all for your support and business over the past months and years - it has been quite the journey! And I couldn’t have done it without you, our wonderful customers as well as our fabulous team and the support and construction work of my husband, Brent. So from the bottom of my heart…
T H A N K Y O U 💐 💕 🙏
We aren’t exactly sure where we are going to end up but we are planning to move out of Whitianga to be back somewhere more central - closer to some of our hobbies.
Wherever we end up, I will still be keeping the online shop and offering dog training.
Before we sign up to go on the market, if you or anyone you know is interested in a great home, industrial land and income opportunity please get them to get in touch as soon as possible.
In the mean time, please be assured that it will be business as usual. We are now taking bookings through to end of February so if you need to book for Waitangi Weekend please do so as soon as possible as we’ve had lots of enquiries about this weekend.
We are very excited to see what this next part of our journey looks like!
