Soft Paws Cat Sitter

Soft Paws Cat Sitter I am a qualified animal carer and member of Pet Sitting NZ. I also undertake regular police vetting for your peace of mind.

If you have been wanting to take a break but not keen on putting your fur baby into a cattery, I can help! I am an experienced and qualified cat lover that can come to your home to care for your cat when you are not able to be there. As part of my visit I can clean litterboxes, feed your cat, have play time, empty your mailbox, water plants, put out bins, and open and close your curtains so your

home doesn't appear vacant while you are away. I may be able to do other tasks for you while I am there, just ask :)
I have a current clean criminal record check to provide you which I request every few months for your peace of mind. I take the safety and security of your home seriously, and do not have anything that identifies me as a pet sitter so your neighbours don't know you aren't home. I will work with you to set up visits that will work best for you and your cat and will also provide photos by email or text updates. I understand cats and know when they don't want any attention, or if they need a lot. I am also experienced in administering medication if required - there is no extra cost for this. I also have my New Zealand Certificate in animal care. I am available to visit your home in the wider Wellington area, outside of Wellington City may incur travel costs. If you are interested in meeting me or discussing further then please give me a call or email me at [email protected]. A complimentary introduction visit to discuss your requirements is available before you make a decision to book me to look after your cat. Pricing
β€’ One cat for one visit per day $25 - $5 extra per additional cat
β€’ One cat for two visits per day $40 - $5 extra per additional cat
There is no extra charge for administering medication or cleaning the litter trays. Other small pets will be considered, but if I'm not confident I can care for them, I will let you know. Cancellation Policy
As soon as you have a made a booking with me, it is possible I may decline further bookings to ensure I don't over-commit. Last minute bookings and changes can be discussed, as I understand our current environment can be quite disruptive. If you wish to cancel your booking, you can do so for free unless I have already left to visit your cat. If the booking is cancelled while I am at the visit, you will still be charged for that visit. Cancellation fees apply at Christmas time if cancelled within 7 days or less of your booking.

I looked after a Lambkin named Cotton over the Christmas break, and oh what an adorable girl she was. She followed me around, watched me prepare her food, clean her litter, and loved being brushed and getting snuggles. I miss her, but I now she's going to be happy having her humans home because she absolutely loved company.

Looked after Nala again recently and she now requires medication. It took me a while to gain her trust the first time i looked after and this time she remebered me, so when on the last day she got upset and hissed at me when I gave her her meds I was so upset that I'd upset her. I spent extra time with her to win her back over and she forgave me but I felt so so bad 😿
I know she doesn't understand that it's good for her, but winning her trust meant a lot.
Her mum said she was happy and healthy when she got home, so it was worth it 😻

Looked after Miss Ivy for almost a month while her mum set up a new home for her up north.
Whenever she saw me she would meow and then drop and roll.
I'm going to miss this soft fluffy girl 😿

I have just read yet another post asking for advice because a Cat Sitter has not turned up and they can't get hold of them. I, of course, offered to jump in and help but it's so sad to think there are people out there who do this. How are they not worried about the cats? It makes me so sad to think that these poor fur babies have been left in this state when their fur parents has trusted them to look after them.
Last year I helped 4 fur families last minute because their Cat Sitter never turned up. One of which was on a strict medication routine and had likely missed 3 days.
If you ever find yourself in this situation PLEASE contact me and I'll drop everything to be there for your fur babies.

This wee fella is Fred. He is such a character. Every morning and evening when I arrived he had brought all of his toys into the middle of the floor. We would play with each one as we put them back, then he would meow for food. I would serve his food and he would walk away back to his toys and wait patiently for more play. He was so much fun, but also such a laugh πŸ˜‚

Beautiful Miss Sian kept me company for a few days, and she was such a laugh. All my cats over Christmas (after permission from their fur parents) were given a Dine Treat on Christmas Day, and Sian loved hers. I'm currently completing a Cat Psychology and Behaviour course which says ears back is a sign of aggression. Clearly not while enjoying a Dine Treat 🀭
She also enjoyed choosing her snacks for the day too 😻

I got to hang out with Ash again recently, and even though she was originally scared to meet me, she now follows me around with her tail up πŸ₯°

This is Shadow and Willow. They are the funniest sisters I've ever met.
Shadow is so lovey and enjoys a roll around on the floor when I turn up. Willow is a girl who knows what she wants, and doesn't want. Sometimes that's me haha
She would have moments where she would be happy, take treats and play, and then other moments she would hiss and swipe at me.
Her mum suggested I ignore her when she's like that, and the photo below of her looking up at me is when I was calling Shadow and ignoring her. Her face says it all. She did not like being ignored hahaha
Sadly they might be moving out of the area and I will definitely miss them 😭

Merry Christmas everyone. I hope you had a wonderful day spent with your family.
Here are mine enjoying a wee treat parcel.
Thank you to all my past, present and future families for your support this year. I hope 2025 is kind to you all.

I'm super busy over the christmas and new year period and will post updates of who I've been looking after once their humans are home, because you know, safety and security is high priority next to caring for their fur babies πŸ₯°

Exciting news for Soft Paws - I have welcomed a new member of the team, Claudia.
I have such a large waiting list over Christmas she has agreed to come help just in time to take on some of the bookings for those who are happy to meet her.
The level of service and how you contact me doesn't change, but if I am unable to do the booking for you I will offer Claudia's cat sitting services as an alternative. She will be available to do the meet and greets, and will do the same daily updates that I do for you all.
Claudia comes to me with cat sitting experience including administering medication.
Here is a little write up from Claudia:

Hi all, my name is Claudia and I am very happy to be joining Soft Paws! A bit about me is that I will be studying Early childhood Education next year with the future plans of becoming a teacher. Another passion of mine is Netball Umpiring and I am part of the central zone squad for 2025. I have got some previous experience in cat sitting from looking after my neighbourhood cats and many other animals across the last few years, but I am very excited to meet lots of new little faces and make some more fur-friends.

Please be vigilant cat families of these fraudulent phone calls as per SPCAs post below.
There are a lot of missing cats and it's sad to hear this is happening. Having a missing family member is hard enough πŸ’”

These callers are not affiliated with SPCA. If your animal is found by SPCA, we will never request payment in this way. If you receive a call like this, we urge you not to provide any payment over the phone and report the call to Netsafe. I thought it might be time to share a video of what my first visits are like with new fur friends.
This is beautiful Ash. On my introduction visit I didnt see much of Ash as she ran quickly past me and hid under the stairs. Her mum said it was unlikely I would see her on my visits, but you just never know.
This video is my first visit with her. She came out from her hiding spot, slowly walked to me, gave me a sniff then you can see the point where she decides I'm ok and gives me smooch.
This is absolutely rewarding for me, and why I do this 😻
After this we actually played too πŸ₯°

Have come to know these 2 quite affectionately. Fred has come such a long way from hiding in the recliner, to now greeting me at the door and treating me to his 'I trust you' belly exposure roll.
Freya just loves me and has the cutest little chirp, although she does get a little jealous at her brother having some of my attention haha
