My dog did this in 3 minutes!!!! (PSA please read the rest….)

These are crap

We have all seen these posts…. But why do they keep happening?

The biggest problem with choosing toys, getting the right type, the right rubber or other material and the right size… ask your pet shop for advice on this and you will get much better results out of your dogs toys👍👍👍

An explanation on Kong rubber
Firstly the best thing about the big brands is their rubber it’s pure and natural… try asking the attendant in Kmart what fillers are used in their rubber toys…. And our dogs are supposed to chew that🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Anyway Kong has 4 rubber types
Puppy it’s pink or light blue and is designed to be soft so it doesn’t damage young teeth and jaws… some dogs will keep that toy for life but most will know when it’s time to up the rubber game

Next up is Red
This is the “standard” or “Classic” Kong rubber and most of their range is in this colour, for a reason because most of the dogs out there are fine with red rubber but and this is a huge BUT it has to be right size!!! Forget the weight guide that is purely a guide think of it like this if a dog can get a full bite pressure on a toy what chance does it have🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Our advice if in doubt always go a size bigger than you think👍👍

Ok next off the rank for Kong rubber is black or “Extreme “ as it’s called you guessed it it’s the toughest Kong sell and yes it really is tough… but it has to be THE RIGHT SIZE!!!!

Then lastly for the gold card holders out there we have Kong Senior it’s a purple rubber and just like puppy it’s softer for old tired gums and teeth.

There is also a blue rubber but I think we are the only shop to stock that ( it shows up on X-ray)

So rubber type (colour) and size are your critical choices but above all else you need to know your dog and what the toys are designed for… if it’s not a chew toy, it’s not a chew toy, bitching about it lasting 5 minutes won’t help… we know XL Bully’s that have had teddy bears for years but quite happily chew a house brick lol.

Talk to your pet store ask for advice but you have to tell them what you want out of a toy… you ask us for a fetch toy we will sell you fetch toys but it’s not a chew toy!!! Honestly there are amazing toys out there that can last for life but you have to pick them carefully 👍👍

Maybe a rubber toy isn’t for your dog… maybe a nylon based chew bone (Benebone or Bambone) not only designed to be chewed up but clean teeth at the same time🐾🐾

Oh and lastly don’t get ripped off we all work hard for our money!!! Shop around then check us out🐾🐾
