Worth the read everyone , please keep your fur babies safe if venturing near the sea 🌊

Toxic slugs have been spotted in Wellington waters, and no it's not your ex! 🙅

Greater Wellington have confirmed two separate sightings of the native grey side-gilled sea slug or Pleurobranchaea maculate in Shark Bay, Miramar.

These sea slugs contain the toxic substance tetrodotoxin which can be poisonous to dogs and children. Please make sure that they do not touch or handle them on the beach or in the water.

While they might look a bit funky, these slugs are a common native creature and should be left to go about their business.

If you believe someone has come into contact with a sea slug and they start to feel unwell, call 111 immediately.

If you believe your dog has licked or eaten a sea slug, contact your vet immediately.

Please report any sightings, particularly in off-leash dog exercise areas through our online webform: wellington.govt.nz/Report-a-problem

Gold Card User coming through !! 🥳 Recently one of our longer attending pups retired from our daycare 😢 Crunch has been with us for a great many years and has enjoyed his time here so much, as have we , he became one of the team and it’s so sad to see him retire but what a pleasure its been ! Get to know Elliott !

Hey there, Happy Tails family! As some of you may know, I joined the Happy Tails team as the manager a year ago, and what a fantastic journey it's been! Before diving into the wonderful world of doggie daycare, let me share a bit about my background.

My love for animals began on a rural farm in the UK, where I was surrounded by all kinds of fury companions. This passion led me to pursue studies in Animal Husbandry, dog training, psychology, and eventually Zoology. After relocating to NZ by myself a decade ago, I continued my journey in the animal industry as a pet consultant / nutritionist, dog trainer, and groomer.
I later opened up my own Dog grooming salon although I eventually had to close my business due to a hand injury, my love for dogs never wavered.

For the past five years, I've been immersed in the joy of being a dog handler, and every moment has been incredible! At home, I share my heart with my own furry friend, Rogue, a Husky x Samoyed who's three years old and who I’ve been using as my Head Dog.

I’m a bit of a geek at heart and I love watching movies and learning new hobbies. I’m also 1 half of a twin ,and my twin brother lives in Auz !

Thank you all for taking the time to learn a bit more about me! I'm thrilled to be part of such an amazing team and to care for your beloved fur babies every day.
