Please be mindful 💜

This is something everyone should see. This xray is of a 2 week old puppy.

When you get your 8/10 week old puppies, please keep this image in mind. Their bones do not even touch yet. They plod around so cutely with big floppy paws and wobbly movement because their joints are entirely made up of muscle, tendons, ligaments with skin covering. Nothing is fitting tightly together or has a true socket yet.
When you run them excessively or don't restrict their exercise to stop them from overdoing it during this period you don't give them a chance to grow properly. Every big jump or excited bouncing run causes impacts between the bones. In reasonable amounts this is not problematic and is the normal wear and tear that every animal will engage in.

But when you're letting puppy jump up and down off the lounge or bed, take them for long walks/hikes, you are damaging that forming joint. When you let the puppy scramble on tile with no traction you are damaging the joint.

You only get the chance to grow them once. A well built body is something that comes from excellent breeding and a great upbringing-BOTH, not just one.

Once grown - around 12-18 months depending on their breed, you will have the rest of their life to spend playing and engaging in higher impact exercise. So keep it calm while they're still little baby puppies and give the gift that can only be given once.

Recall 🤯

Dogs are selfish…

They are even selfishly driven by their desire to please and or help us…
WoWie 🤔

We’ll have to accept this to be able to move forward and have succes with our dog.

Fact:
Dogs are driven by their selfish desires and will take the path of least resistance to be able to achieve it.

We can resist this fact or accept this and take this knowledge to use to our advantage!

Sometimes we don’t understand this and we are just lucky with our succes now and then, or we create issues.
Or we understand it, but it might not sit right with us and pretend this fact doesn’t exist and therefore we never learn our dogs to work with us, but we just go and unwantedly work against this fact.

So again…
Dogs are driven by what motivates them right there in that moment the most!

In that moment there can be lots of different motivators…
We could be a motivator (with food, treats, toys and or praise etc.),
but most likely when we go out there will be competing motivators.

These competing motivators can be everything… else… besides us… what motivates the dog…
This can be other dogs, other people, other animals, a scent, a noise, a dog of the opposite s*x, anything…

To be successful, make yourself highly motivating 🫵🏼

Essence of recall fail is,
us and the other motivators.
We have to tip the scales in our favor and make the other motivators less interesting, as it’s a balancing up thing all the time!

Different breeds have different motivation levels.
Different motivators are different for every dog cause of;
Breed
Character
Temperament
Training

Main thing to take away from this is;
to be successful with our recall with our dogs,
we need to be the best thing ever to them 💯

Ok, but how?

DOGGY DAYCARE

Today my pooch is at doggy daycare!
There are a lots of benefits to sometimes bringing you dog to daycare;

Most dogs absolutely love it!

It gives you space and time to do other stuff and or get on top of things.

The dogs can release some excess energy. They can run around and play all day in a safe doggy friendly and caring environment.

A different environment also stimulates your dogs mind. Which means that they besides physical exercise get mentally stimulated aswell and that tires them out even more.

Your dog is able to make doggy friends and also to socialize and interact with other canines of all kinds of different breeds, ages and sizes. Resulting in that your dog will be more social and chilled around other dogs and on your daily walks.

Your dog can be just a dog without too many expectations!

And even though your dog may already be an adult, having your dog going to daycare, so to a different place then home, is wonderful! As at daycare your dog sees and experiences other things, humans and dogs and so on, which makes daycare very beneficial for your dogs on going socialization.

Doggy daycare is also effective for helping and or dealing with separation anxiety, as the dog is not with you, but still is not alone!

It builds confidence in your dog!
The dog learns that it can handle different situations and can manage, navigate and survive, which will make your dog more grounded, and therefore less fearful, stressed and anxious!

Even thou sometimes daycare isn’t really necessary, as you might be available to take care of your dag, it’s still good to have your furry friend go to daycare as you both can have a break from each other. Afterwards the both of you will be extra happy and appreciative when you’re in each others company again!

It even has knock on effects on the day after. Your dog will be way more content, satisfied, mellow and chilled after a hard days of heaps of fun the day before! Which basically gives you the freedom of two days being less intense busy with your dog.

All sounds good! But…
Relying on daycare very day of the week might be a bit much on your pooch, as it’s quite intense for them!
Also if you bring your dog to daycare heaps/daily there’s a possibility that over time you’ll bond less with your dog. Probably you will be spending less quality/bonding time together like going for walks and exploring the world together and or do training and work together. Both of you will be having kind of separate lives and you probably both be tired on the weekends after a busy week! But I would still say, better have your pooch at daycare then every day home alone and or locked up.

If your considering doggy daycare, personally I’d advise for your adult dog to go about 3 to 4 days a week max. or less, but this also depends on the dog as every dog is totally different! Please use this advice more as a general guideline and review your personal situation.
For a puppy there would need to be a different approach. This would need to be with other puppies of their size and age. And it would need to be more controlled and slowly and gradually build up.
Most doggy daycare facilities also offer a puppy program, maybe ask for it if you’re interested in that. It will have the same benefits!

Then make sure the facility you bring your dog to is safe & clean, and has enough sheltered space. That the staff is skilled & knowledgeable and there is a nice vibe. Also all the paperworks need to be in place and up to date.
Maybe there is a website and or social media pages, check out these too.
Give them a call and have a chat, and or go visit the facility before you book your doggy in 💜

PACK MIGRATION

In the wild dogs used to live in packs and instinctively migrate together, this is hardwired in them, it’s in their DNA!
And even thou our nowadays pooch doesn’t have to do all of this anymore to be able to survive,
they still absolutely love it!!

A daily structured pack walk is a very powerful and beneficial thing to do together;
1. to strengthen your bond,
2. to establish your leadership and
3. to both get exercise.
Even when your pack is just you and your dog!

Have the walk this structured and do it daily - you’ll experience the wide spread ramifications 💜
