Today was a very special day at Tir na nog! We were visited by some of the early Irish enthusiasts. Neville Turner, (myself) Jeremy Vize, Lyn Turner, Lesley Spence, Jo Souness and Sonya McGill. Lyn bred Eyreleigh Finnoula 20 years ago and was delighted to see her again today. We spoke about the early stallions that were brought into Nz and the creation of the Irish Draught Horse Society. They were pleased to see that the magic lives on through the breeding of these beautiful horses.

School holidays for the Woodbury Cowboys. Both confidently riding unassisted. And to think neither had been on a horse until a few months ago. So lucky that our grazing boundaries this playground. Left Ratamill Willow right TeleBessie. Both mares will be put to a Irish Draught stallion this spring, just not sure which one Silver or Duke…

My first ride today on Trevalda Mountain Duke. He was an absolute star already at 2.5 years old! Very calm, willing and trainable. Duke is by Ballineen Blue Mountain out of Richmondlea Delia (Crosstown Dancer). He is a full brother to Trevalda Mountain Dancer. Duke will be standing to outside mares this coming breeding season via AI. He will cross well with all mares to add temperament, size and willingness. Indica, ShireX Gisborne bred. We purpose bred our Telesun mares to our Shire stallion with the intention of keeping the filly foals as replacement broodmares. We now have 4 that will be ridden first and then put to one of our Irish Draught stallions. They are calm, forward and a pleasure to be around. We have a ShireX c**t for sale. See comments

Today saw the new edition of Eyreleigh Finnoula to the team. She's a 19 yo purebred mare by Coalmans Touch. Finnoula was accompanied by her 8 month old purebred filly, who is by our stallion Derrynasagurt Silver. She's called Tir na nOg Silver Dream. Dream is Silver's first and only purebred filly. And to top this off, Finnoula is pregnant again to Silver with the foal due in the spring. Super exciting!

I miss having this cheeky and beautiful young lad around. Derrynasagurt Silver has settled into his new home in Canterbury really well and he is primed and ready for a busy Stud season ahead. His first crop of foals last season were exceptional with many mares returning to him for that reason. So, looking forward to seeing what pops out this Spring to some really super mares.
