Does cleaning your floor make your air dirty? A recent study says yes.😱

Mopping your floor with industrial-grade limonene-containing cleaners🪣 (keep reading for our pet-safe DIY cleaner recipe) for just a few minutes can create as much air pollution as traffic 🚙 on a busy city street, according to researchers. The aerosols generated by mopping with commercial-grade lemon🍋- or pine🌲-scented chemicals can be inhaled deep into the lungs 🫁 (by both humans and animals) causing irritation and leading to health issues 😷 like allergies, and more.

So can you have a clean floor AND clean air? Also yes! 🥳 Researchers found that use of an air purifier during mopping can significantly reduce the concentration 📉 of harmful aerosols.

🧽 You can also try one of our pet-safe floor cleaners:
1 gallon water
2 cups white vinegar
1-2 cups rubbing alcohol
1 tsp natural dish soap
Optional: 5-10 drops of bergamot, lemon, or other pet safe essential oil

🪣 Combine in a bucket to mop. Can be added to a spray bottle for spot cleaning. No need to rinse.

Green bananas🍌 can prevent and reduce cancers by over 60%, according to the American Association of Cancer Research, so maybe stop hunting for those yellow bananas in the supermarket!

You can boost your dog’s immune and gut health with unripe, green bananas, which have less sugar and more fiber than in their ripened state. Research shows that green bananas offer:

🍌Pectin and prebiotics to build the microbiome and increase the production of butyrate and other short-chain fatty acids

🍌Leucocyanidin, a flavonoid that may help to prevent GI ulcers by inhibiting the release of histamine in the gut

PREVENTING NSAID-INDUCED STOMACH ISSUES💊🐶🐱

Non-steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) offer pain relief for many pets, and these drugs are very important, no animal should be in pain.

However, a recent cohort study found that NSAID use in dogs, even at the labeled doses, was the common trigger to the onset of gastric or duodenal perforation. Several drugs, including NSAIDs and antibiotics, negatively impact our pets’ microbiome and potentially the integrity of their gut wall. Using a preventive supplement protocol when these medications are given is essential to prevent damage and reduce the potential for ongoing GI issues.

⚠️FOOD SAFETY ALERT FOR PET PARENTS! 🐶🐱

FDA warns if you use peanut butter🥜 as a treat for your pet, check their alert about the recall of certain JIF peanut butter products due to a multistate outbreak of Salmonella. The recall also impacts markets outside of the U.S. with products distributed to Canada, Dominican Republic, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, Honduras, Spain, and Japan.🌎

According to the FDA website: the CDC, state and local partners, along with the FDA are investigating a multistate outbreak of Salmonella Senftenberg infections linked to certain JIF brand peanut butter products produced at the J.M. Smucker Company facility in Lexington, Kentucky. J.M. Smucker Company has voluntarily recalled certain JIF brand peanut butter products that have the lot code numbers between 1274425 - 2140425, only if the first seven digits end with 425.
