Rosie took on the Home Depot yesterday, and totally rocked it! Strangers, shopping carts, loud noises and lots of other distractions to help her proof her obedience out in the real world! Good girl, Rosie!
At Allied Dog Training we focus on more than just teaching your dog to be obedient.
(23)
Our goal is to help you understand your dog, teach you how to be a good leader and
communicate to your dog and make you and your dog a cohesive team. We’re experts at helping you and your dog with puppy training and socialization,
basic and advanced obedience, and we specialize in aggression rehabilitation and
management. As Foundation Style Dog trainers our methods of training are easy, effect
ive
and humane. Our approach solves problems, prevents problems before they arise,
and builds a long lasting relationship with you and your dog based on trust and
respect. At Allied Dog Training there is no such thing as a “bad dog”, there are
however dogs who have behavioral issues that need to be resolved. Every dog is
different and we tailor our training plan to fit each dogs needs.

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Allied Dog Training. As we all sit down to enjoy the festivities with our families please remember all the homeless animals that are sitting and waiting for their chance to find a family to love. Blessings, Rocky and Kennedy are just a few of the many who would love nothing more than to be thankful for that chance. While they are safe here with us here at the farm it is not a home and these guys have been waiting patiently for someone to love. Please share and check out all our adoptable’s at www.towncountryk9resq.org
Monday nap session in between classes with the kids. Rough life Mac.
Why would your dog behave differently for your trainer than you?
If you haven’t developed the skills, knowledge, and discipline to become a strong, healthy, consistent leader, you’re effectively the same as the person attempting to pull over a stranger who has no idea who you are, no belief in you as an authority figure, and likely thinks you’re crazy.
Respect, polite behavior, and dogs giving their best doesn’t come from deciding you’re a “leader”, they come from dogs believing you are—by your actions and presence.
You can have the best car, motorcycle, skis, camera, gun, computer, or any other amazing gear, and they will all be exactly as good as the person’s skills operating them.
Want an awesome dog? Develop the skills needed to have one. Or, just keep wanting.

Some video from Cruz’s field trip to Home Depot the other day. Cruz can be leery towards strangers so getting him out in public, showing him that we got his back and there is no need to worry about it, not only helps build his confidence but also changes his perception about how he see’s the world. He rocked it. (Additional video in comments below).

We lost one of our own and the world is a little bit colder. It took me two years to find Holly a home as she was nervous with new people and took a few minutes to warm up. She found the best home ever and luckily we got many updates from Megan and many visits. Two weeks ago Holly was diagnosed with a very aggressive cancer. She was supposed to make one last trip up here to say good bye unfortunately the powers that be had different plans. While I love all the dogs that come through these doors there are certain ones that hold a very special place in my heart. Holly is one of those dogs. I loved her like she was my own and she will be missed beyond words. I am so happy she had 4 years of bliss and landed a home with someone who gave her a chance and continued all the hard work we had done. Holly made many many friends and touched so many lives. Please consider giving a dog who has some issues a second chance at life. Holly was one of the lucky ones who got her chance to shine. We love you Holly and you will always be in our hearts. See you on the other side sweet girl.

Canek the 7 month old hairless mexican Xolo dog. For those of you who have seen Disney’s Movie Coco the dog Dante was a Xolo. It is an ancient Mexican breed but is very rare here in the states. Always fun to get some new breeds to work with.
Happy Monday From Benny from his forever home. Benny was a resident at a local shelter who had some fear issues towards strangers. We took him into our rescue beacuse we believed in him and that he deserved a second chance at life. With training, leadership, guidance, confidence building and the right things in place Benny made great strides with us. He landed and amazing forever home with Susan and she continued to work with him and be the leader that he needs. We are forever grateful to her and wish that more people would give dogs like Benny a second chance at life. Here is what his mom has to say:
“Good morning!! I just wanted to share these pictures of Benny with you from this weekend! He went on a hike with his cousins and did so well! He let my sister take him without a problem and nudged her for pets along the hike. This was only his 3rd or 4th time meeting her, so it was that much better in my opinion. I hope this brightens your Monday morning!”
We needed this update more than ever as we have all been feeling down in the dumps lately as we have so many long timer dogs here waiting for human like this to believe in them. Seeing Benny so happy and thrive made our day. If you too want to be a hero to a dog that needs a chance please check out our adoptable pets at www.townandcountryk9resq.org

We have been working with Kylie and a few other dogs down at Sky Blue Stables in Cortlandt Manor. Kylie has some fear issues towards strangers and especially with kids. Today we took advantage of the summer riding camp they have for kids there to work on her issues. Kylie did great. If anyone is interested in horses, riding, pony rides for their kids or lessons definitely check out our friends at Sky Blue Stables, LLC. They are awesome people and we are happy to be going there and working with their dogs. Stay tuned for more with Kylie and the other dogs as we will be going there frequently to help.
