I am a family dog trainer that train with a balanced philosophy. I have learned a lot about behavior through watching mom’s and puppies interact from day 1. I am taking two new classes/courses in 2024 to be come certified in: Dog CPR/First Aid and Raw/lightly cooked feeding nutritional coaching for K9’s. er that wanted to certify to learn more through a very well-known holistic veterinarian. I am forever learning to better the mind, body and soul of our beloved dogs. Key points know the breed and their needs!!

Working line dogs they have different needs and they need to be understood! Working line GSD’s are different than American GSD’s! Unfortunately many vets how no understanding of the working line German shepherds and know only about the American lines. Working line dogs aren’t dogs that are lazy and lap dogs!

I would add you need to teach/train a shut off switch. Puppies/Dogs know very well how to expel energy not calm down/shut off. If you are constantly stimulating your dog well you will make an adrenaline junk!

On the other hand is you don’t meet their exercise/mental stimulation then you will have a mischievous puppy/dog!

"...failed to meet AAFCO's MINIMUM nutrition standards".

If the product is providing less than the minimum then it stands to reason pets eating it are going to sick. But not quickly. Slowly. Insiduously.

And know that the nutritional illness they develop, be it chronic inflammation, a roaring skin or gut condition or creeping liver, kidney or heart disease, will NEVER be attributed to the dirt poor foods your vet has been selling under the illegal pretence of "prescription".

And it wasn't just prescription diets. It was all "complete" foods sold in the UK, they sampled well over a 100 different product. Around 2/3 of them failed to meet the minimum standards (which is already a very low bar, set by the industry itself).

So if you are still feeding "complete" dry pet food YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED to supplement it with something nutritious to plug the gaps.

That's why I invented Power Paste and it's now available in many independent pet stores across Ireland and the UK.

It's available cooked or raw and it contains all the bits I think would greatly benefit dogs trying to eek out an existence on those products - lovely fresh organ meats, some fresh Atlantic sardine, a little lightly steamed local veg and a bevvy of power additions that you wish your dog was getting each day (and in a dose you would hope they were included).

🧐 A Must-Read for Dog Owners!

A recent study out of the UK has shed some light on what might be lurking in your dog's kibble, and it's definitely worth your attention.

Researchers examined the microbiological safety of 35 different types of dry dog food, both grain-included and grain-free. The findings? The grain-included foods were more likely to contain harmful bacteria like E. coli and coliforms, indicators of contamination. Luckily, no Salmonella was found in any of the samples.

So, what does this mean for your dog? While these bacteria don't always cause illness, they raise concerns about the quality of ingredients and the food production process. It’s a reminder to be mindful of what you’re feeding your dog and to choose products that prioritize safety and quality.

Remember, every dog is unique, and what works for one might not work for another.

Since 2007, The Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) has allowed ANY level of copper in dog food above 1.83mg/1000 kcal.
Two scientific papers (one in 2019 and one in 2021) documented an increase in Copper Storage Disease in Dogs, pointing to no maximum copper limit in dog food as a probable cause.

Work begins before coming to a trainer and after leaving a trainer. You cannot have minimal foundation and then want 8 months worth of training results/progress in 3-4 months And you cannot keep or even move forward in progress and results if you do not follow through at home thereafter. Dog trainers are not wizards or magicians.

This is Zeke. He is now almost 10 months old .This is not one of my puppies. I started training with him, his owner and grandson when he Zeke was 8 weeks old. They went through my whole program. He had put all the reps in for all the skills that he needed reinforces wanted behavior and correct behavior that was undesired. That’s called balance training! Dogs need information and lines of communication which are taught through leash, pressure, learning our skill words, reps with positive reward, proofing and correction with leash pops/ecollar. You can have a puppy/dog that behaved just like Zeke. Check the comments out to learn how you can train a puppy or dog that will behave just like this. Remember what you nurture and you reinforce is the behavior you’re going to get. (Heika has since she was able to leave the whelping box brought out in the living room for time spent to teach calm body and quiet mind and her littermates as well) Negative nurturing and reinforcement happens a lot. Sometimes it happens because humans can’t change their routine, they don’t see they are contributing to the behavior, another reason I see is the human humanizes the dog and feeling bad to correct them. They reinforce and nurturing a destructive, anxiety ridden and undesirable behavior. Anxiety is something that can be nurtured very easily humanizing them. Remember anxiety is something that is not really within a dog’s behavior in the wild. Anxiety is a negative trait. In my opinion dogs would go extinct if Mother Nature nurtured or moms/the pack nurtured anxiety. I believe humans nurture many behaviors.

Place is a very important skill to learn! Calm is a skill that needs to be worked on and reinforced. Dogs know how to expel energy/running natural! However most families over exercise their dog making them adrenaline junkies, hyper and have behavior issues! They allow their dogs to mill around not teaching them a shut off switch. Having them on place or in a down for an hour plus is training and a mental exercise that tires them out! Calm in the house needs to be reinforced.
