What exactly is the 5in1 vaccine for dogs for?

The 5-in-1 vaccine for dogs is a combination vaccine that protects against five common and serious infectious diseases. These include:

(1) Canine Distemper Virus (CDV) – A contagious viral infection that affects a dog’s respiratory, gastrointestinal, and nervous systems, often leading to severe illness or death.

(2) Canine Parvovirus (CPV) – A highly contagious virus that causes severe gastrointestinal illness, dehydration, and often death, especially in puppies.

(3) Hepatitis
• Canine Adenovirus Type 1 (CAV-1) – This virus causes infectious canine hepatitis, a disease affecting the liver, kidneys, and eyes.
• Canine Adenovirus Type 2 (CAV-2) – This is associated with respiratory disease, specifically kennel cough (infectious tracheobronchitis), leading to coughing, fever, and difficulty breathing.

(4) Parainfluenza Virus – Another virus contributing to kennel cough, which causes respiratory symptoms like coughing and nasal discharge.

(5) Leptospirosis - is a bacterial infection caused by Leptospira bacteria, which can affect both dogs and human. People can get infected by handling animals, cleaning up urine, or coming into contact with contaminated water or soil.
