Tips to avoid impaction on axolotls:
- use a bare-bottom (no-substrate) tank for baby axolotls
- never use gravel as substrate (bonus tip: gravel tend to have sharp edges which might also damage their slime coat)

Our slimy friends can grow to about 12 inches in length so make sure you give them plenty of space to manoeuvre in their tanks. 😊 They sometimes rush to the water surface to gulp some air, and can accidentally fall out! 😬 So leave a gap or put a lid on their tanks to keep them safe.
