Rabbit Lechon by Kuya JDee's Rabbitry and Vermiculture and company!
There are many dishes in the Philippines that are made from rabbit meat, and rabbit lechon is one of them. A whole pig is roasted over a charcoal fire and is referred to as lechon in Filipino culture. Many different spices and seasonings are added to the marinade which gives it a distinctive flavor. To make rabbit lechon, the meat must be marinated and cooked. Steamed rice is served together with various side dishes to make it taste special.

If you are cooking a chicken recipe, you can easily substitute rabbit meat for the chicken, with delicious results. Because rabbit meat fills you up faster than chicken meat, you can easily feed six to eight people as a main dish, especially if you serve it along with some side dishes.

Magkakaroon po kami ng rabbit lechon by Sunday. Maraming salamat po!
Maaari niyo po kaming macontact sa aming Fb page.

Why is rabbit meat more expensive than chicken and pork meat?

One reason is that rabbit meat has a higher quality than chicken and pork. The price of rabbit meat is high since rabbits cannot be fed in large groups, they require a more expensive feed ration than most other livestock, and their processing costs are higher per kilo of meat they produce. One rabbit can produce up to 500g of meat. Additionally, rabbits are commercially raised mainly for their fur and meat while rabbits raised for pelts and /or live pets are usually kept in free range. Meat from free-range rabbits is typically sold at a lower price than meat from commercially-raised rabbits because they are higher in fat and cholesterol due to a lower-quality diet.
The sale of rabbit meat depends on people's interest in eating the meat, the availability and cost of other meats in the marketplace, and the price consumers are willing to pay for a lean protein source such as rabbit meat.
Currently, Australia is the only developed country where rabbit meat is readily available to consumers.

There is a long history of people throughout the world enjoying rabbit, a fast-breeding resource of low-fat, high-protein meat that has been enjoyed for many years as a food. Because rabbit has fine-grained white meat, they can be substituted for chicken in many recipes.
