Infrared Thermoregulated Physiotherapy Cages have just arrived! 😍
We have provided for both Non Infectious and Infectious Confinement area!
Yes! We have separate confinement areas for both non-infectious and infectious patients, with plans for an isolation area soon. Aside from that we have nurses who duties separately eliminating the possibility of nosocomial infection!
These infrared cages regulate heat, alleviate pain, and accelerate healing, enhancing the chances of our patients' survival.
This technology also enhances blood circulation, accelerates tissue repair, and can be particularly beneficial for conditions like arthritis, muscle injuries, and post-surgery recovery. Infrared therapy is non-invasive and can contribute to an overall improvement in the well-being of animals, making it a valuable tool in veterinary care.
As veterinarians, nothing warms our hearts more than witnessing our furbabies heal, and innovations like this bring us closer to that goal.
We're thrilled to have this technology in our facility! ❤️
Ear mites are a common parasitic problem in cats. These tiny mites, known as Otodectes cynotis, can infest the ears of cats and lead to various symptoms. If you suspect your cat has ear mites, here are some signs and information to consider:
Itching and Scratching: Cats with ear mites often scratch their ears excessively due to irritation.
Head Shaking: Cats may shake their heads or tilt them to one side if they have ear mites.
Ear Discharge: Dark, crusty discharge resembling coffee grounds may be present in the ears.
Foul Odor: An unpleasant odor might emanate from the ears.
Redness and Inflammation: The ear canal may appear red and inflamed.
If you suspect your cat has ear mites, it’s important to consult with a veterinarian for proper diagnosis and treatment. Veterinary care may involve cleaning the ears, administering medication to kill the mites, and addressing any secondary infections or inflammation.
Remember, it’s crucial to follow your veterinarian’s advice and prescribed treatment plan for the best outcome. Additionally, regular ear cleaning and preventive measures can help minimize the risk of ear mite infestations in the future.

EMERGENCY CASE
Juanda, a 2 year old Pomeranian was brought in our clinic restless, heavily panting, shivering, and having muscle tremors. Her body temperature flactuated from normal to 40.4C. Patient gave birth a week ago and nursing with 4 puppies. With the clinical signs and history, and blood test, the veterinarian diagnosed her with Hypocalcemia. We treated her with IV fluids and injectable calcium supplement.
Hypocalcemia in dogs happens when calcium levels in blood are abnormally low. It is also referred as Eclampsia or Milk Fever. This is very common to lactating dogs and if left untreated, it may lead to the death of the dam. Eclampsia is a true medical emergency. If you suspect eclampsia is developing, prevent the pups from suckling and contact your veterinarian immediately.
Juanda is now safe and was sent home for monitoring and medications.
Please monitor your dam and provide oral calcium supplements when they are lactating. You may contact or visit our clinic to know more about these products.

This is little Cakey, our brave fighter. She was rushed by her owner to the clinic due to acute and persistent vomiting, hypersalivation, and seizure episodes at home. Her owner suspected toad poisoning as the main culprit because, before the incident, she liked to run after toads outside of their house.
Upon physical assessment, she’s weak, lethargic, and has difficulty in breathing, hypothermia, decreased heart rate, and abnormal heart rhythms. Her laboratory tests showed mild infection, mild azotemia, and high glucose. Copious flushing of oral membranes and supportive care were given immediately, and within three days of confinement and intensive monitoring, her vitals stabilized and ready to go home.
If your dog has exposure to toad toxins, it can be a serious matter, and may experience gastrointestinal, cardiac, and neurological signs. Toad poisoning is an emergency that requires immediate treatment.

Amazing CAThursday everyone 😸😽😻
This is Eya, a female 3-month-old mixed cat. She was brought to the clinic because her owner noticed that she had watery diarrhea, intense scratching of both ears, and lethargic for days.
Upon physical assessment, she was very thin, had very dirty and itchy ears with lots of brownish wax buildup, and was dehydrated. Laboratory tests were conducted right away, and it showed a positive result in Feline Coronavirus - a highly contagious viral infection that causes diarrhea in cats. Her ear swabbing test showed lots of ear mites, and her fecal exam showed bacterial and protozoan infections. Aggressive treatment and management were conducted right away.
2 weeks after she was diagnosed, she conquered her multiple infections and came to the clinic to have her deworming updated. Thanks to the unending support and love of her furparents, now, she’s back to her usual self - active and lively.
See you again after 2 weeks, beautiful Eya!

A Puppy’s Journey: From a single cell to a 4-week-old puppy 🐶.
Have you ever wondered what a puppy fetus looked like? Here are videos of an ultrasound scan of a 4-week-old puppy inside her momma’s womb. You can see that the fetus is actively moving and wriggling, and there's already a heartbeat 🫀
At week 4, the fetus grows a head, eyes, and its first vertebrae. It also develops its organs and begins to grow facial features. At, this point, it has nearly tripled in size and has already grown to 15 mm, or as big as a hazelnut 🌰!

Look at what we found swimming and moving freely under the microscope: GIARDIA TROPHOZOITES! This tiny tadpole-like organism was from a small fecal sample that we got from our tiny
3-month-old Siamese patient.
Giardia is not a worm, bacteria, or virus, but a simple-one-celled parasite that commonly affects kittens, as well as adult cats with compromised immune systems.
Giardiasis can be transmitted by eating or sniffing fecal-contaminated water, food, or soil.
Giardia infection in cats causes severe, watery diarrhea, vomiting, decreased appetite, and energy, and it may lead to weight loss and chronic intermittent diarrhea.
With the appropriate medication and strict management, Giardiasis can be cured. But, if left untreated, especially in kittens, it can cause death from dehydration which can be quite severe.
Praying for your fast recovery, Clyne 🙏

In today’s CATurday post, we want to talk about Feline Urinary Tract Disease (or FLUTD). It is a term used to describe a variety of conditions that affect the urinary bladder and urethra of cats.
FLUTD can occur at any age, but it is usually seen in middle-aged, overweight cats that get a little exercise, use an indoor litter box, have little or no outdoor access, or eat a dry diet. Factors such as emotional or environmental stress, multi-cat households, and abrupt changes in daily routine may also increase the risk that a cat will develop FLUTD.
Typical signs of FLUTD
🐱Straining to urinate
🐱Urinating small amounts
🐱Frequent and/or prolonged attempts to urinate
🐱Crying out while urinating
🐱Urine that smells foul or looks cloudy
🐱Excessive grooming or licking of the genital area
🐱Changes in urination pattern (such as urinating outside the
litter box)
🐱Blood in the urine
🐱Behavioral changes (such as hiding, restlessness, and
inappetence)
Caused by:
🐱Urolithiasis (urinary stones)
🐱Urinary Infection
🐱Urethral Obstruction
🐱Feline Idiopathic Cystitis
🐱Others (Diabetes and Hyperthyroidism)
What can we do at home to prevent future occurrences of FLUTD?
🐱Clean litter trays daily
🐱Keep litter boxes in quiet, safe areas of the house
🐱Provide clean, fresh water at all times in different areas of the
home
🐱Feed an appropriate and high-quality diet
🐱Feed small meals frequently
🐱Minimize major changes in routine
🐱Reduce stress
🐱Regular veterinary check-ups
If your cat displays any of the said signs, have them checked immediately at the nearest veterinary clinic.

One of the common eye problem that we can see in our dogs is CORNEAL ULCERATION.
A corneal ulcer is a break in the cornea or deeper erosion through the entire epithelium and into the stroma. Cornea is the clear, outermost layer of the eye that helps to focus light as it enters and also protects the eye's inner structures.
The primary cause of corneal ulceration is:
TRAUMA, either from rubbing its eye on the carpet, laceration, cat scratch or contact with a sharp object.
Other causes are:
IRRITATING CHEMICAL OR SUBSTANCE such as shampoo or drywall dust gets in the eye
INFECTIONS (Bacterial, Viral)
FOREIGN BODY
GENETIC FACTORS
KERATOCONJUNCTIVITIS SICCA
ENDOCRINE PROBLEM (Cushing Syndrome)
Presenting signs that are commonly observed are:
Blepharospasm or uncontrolled twitching of the eye
Excessive lacrimation
Conjunctivitis
Whitish opacity
Corneal ulcers are diagnosed using a fluorescein test and appear luminous green under blue light. This condition is very painful, most dogs rub the affected eye with a paw or on the carpet in an attempt to relieve this intense pain.
Treatment depends upon how severe your dog’s ulcer is and may include:
Antibiotic eyedrops and ointment
Oral antibiotic
Anti-inflammatory pain relief
E-collar that will prevent your dog from rubbing or scratching at their eye whilst it heals
Surgery may be required to protect the injury and allow for normal healing. In certain cases, it may be necessary to perform surgery to remove dead or poorly healing layers of corneal tissue (grid keratectomy) or to perform a corneal graft.
If not treated early, it can cause descemetocele which is a very serious condition. If Descemet's membrane ruptures, the liquid inside the eyeball leaks out, the eye collapses and irreparable damage occurs.
If you suspect your pets have corneal ulceration, visit us immediately.

Look at what we found from a single drop of blood 🩸 under the microscope: MICROFILARIA (baby heartworms).
Microfilaria are the baby worms produced by mating male and female adult worms living in the heart and pulmonary arteries of the dog. It is primarily transmitted through the bite of mosquito 🦟 .
The presence of microfilaria confirms that mature adult worms are present in the heart and indicates the need for specific treatment to kill microfilariae.
If left untreated this disease can be fatal. So that’s why annual heartworm testing followed by preventive medication is a must to keep your dog free of heartworm disease.
There are several excellent preventive products that are available to prevent heartworm disease in dogs such as ProHeart® SR-12 injection good for 12 months, Nexgard Spectra® and Heartgard® Plus good for 1 month.

CASE OF THE DAY: CANINE TRANSMISSIBLE VENEREAL TUMOR (CTVT) IN A 9-YEAR OLD MALE DOG.
CTVTs are malignant (cancerous) that is sexually transmitted through direct skin-to-skin contact with a tumor that results in cancer cells being transplanted from dog to dog. This usually occurs during mating, but it may also be transferred by licking, biting, and sniffing the tumor affected areas, or even parturition.
The signs are entirely dependent on the location of the tumor. If located on the pen*s/prepuce or vulva, there may be irregular thickening of the tissue, discomfort, intermittent bleeding, or bruising. Excessive licking may also be observed. If located within the mouth or on the tongue, a ‘cauliflower-like’ nodules may appear that continues to grow. They may ulcerate and bleed.
It is usually treated with chemotherapy and most dogs respond well to treatment and make a full recovery from the disease.
If your pet has developed a CTVT or shows similar signs, have them check in the nearest veterinary clinic so that treatment should be pursued as soon as possible, to avoid the transfer of the disease to other dogs and the risk (although rare) of metastasis.
