🤔Should you bathe a rabbit? 🤔Can a bath kill a rabbit?

Bonded rabbits often groom each other as a sign of affection.
Rabbits clean themselves using a similar method to cats and dogs. They will lick themselves, using their specially - evolved tongues to get a good, thorough clean. Although this might not sound very hygienic to you or I, it's the method rabbits have been using for thousands of years and suits them very well.

❓ Should you bathe a rabbit?
🐰 Rabbits are meticulously clean and almost never need a bath. Bathing them can even be harmful, since they tend to panic in water and may fracture a limb or their spine if they thrash around. But it's usually not safe or beneficial to wet down the bunny's whole body.

❓ Can a bath kill a rabbit?
🐰 Bathing can be very stressful to a rabbit; stress can cause body function changes that can kill a rabbit. Rabbit's digestive systems are fairly fragile, and stress can upset the balance in their gut causing them to go into GI Stasis. When this happens, the GI tract shuts down and unless this is dealt with in the first few days, it is usually fatal. The problem is it can take a day or two before you can tell for sure that your rabbit is in stasis, so the rabbit is often beyond help before the problem is noticed. GI Stasis kills more rabbits than any other cause.
