It all came so natural knowing this animal is also driven by the power of their instinct to carry on and go about their daily life's purpose. We are taking advantage of the free firewood in the not so distant 30-year old rubber forest. My purpose actually of getting rubber branches is mainly for firewood and to get extra round timber for simple carpentry. The true meaning of 'blessing' is this free firewood. It's not everyday that we get blessed with its abundance for free. These rubber wood is really given away by the owner and he literally give the neighborhood access to his forest for us to enjoy and use and for his forest to be cleared of rubber trees since he has in his mind the plan to change cropping; this time no longer rubber but sugarcane. I should have said no to a dog because I have mini-rabbitry and dogs have known incompatibility with rabbits. If you have seen how dogs play with mice, that's what they do with the rabbits, too. They would bite a rabbit all over its body as they would do a stuffed toy. But with the entrance of Andrea into the farm, how would you say no to a puppy. Maybe if we could just give her a chance and just train her to make friends, and not toys, with the rabbits, then maybe, well let's just give it a try! Rabbits do not have breeding season and they do not follow or wait for it to come to do it. Everyday in fact is their breeding season and it is the buck that determines the time and with the presence of the doe to be the breeding season. With the presence of the doe, the buck never stops breeding even the doe herself cannot stop the buck from breeding no matter how much the doe dislike it for whatever reason. A lowly farmer caught catfish and I am lucky enough to be around when he couldn't help it but share the blessing. Catfish is very slippery and elusive. It takes a skillful hand of a farmer-cook to make a hot&spicy dish out of it. I am very fond of catfish and my favorite catfish dish to brag about is fried catfish and halang-halang; one which is cooked in chilli-filled and spicy coconut milk soup. We all know giving birth is not an easy task and it involves a lot of bearing the pain and cuts and bloods. But rabbit moms never complain of pain and they do not even cry in pain and they do not show any emotion and struggle in the pushings. I have developed this method of raising my chickens in such a way the chicken does not have to look for feeds outside the chicken house or outside my yard. Because the moment they step out of the chicken house, they will be exposed to so many viruses, sickness and rains. Thanx to my plants, madre de agua and kangkong, the chickens do not have to wander in the neighborhood for food. Magda is one special chicken that is housed in an individual bunk just for the purpose of giving her privacy and enough room to raise her chicks and that she and her chicks can have regular food rations everyday and not just scratch on grounds and garbage of the neighbors. Chicken is the very special treats for birthdays, specially chicken adobo. Without which the celebrant should find another 'handa' to treat the guests. My miniature farm store is facing a waterway canal with a little concrete bridge installed right over the canal where kids cross and play. The canal is 7 feet deep and I would dread comes the day when some kid fall into that depth and break his neck or worse die. So I oblige myself to prevent that day to come, I must extend the built-in bridge by building it myself using recyclable wooden but durable materials. Champorado is the pambansang lugaw or 'porridge' in the Philippines. And what I love about champorado is its rich and natural chocolatey taste because it is made with natural cocoa directly taken from cacao fruit. But, is lugaw a symbol of poverty among low-income filipinos? Because sometimes, some people put label to people who eat lugaw. When it is the rich people that eat lugaw, they are called 'sosyal'. Rabbits are not the kind that easily get sick. When they do, usually it leads to their death that raisers cannot understand how it happens. In Myrna's case, all I did was be patient and give her her basic needs even if she fights back. I did not falter in my idea to give her special attention during her times of need. Many people do not eat Tamban (Herring) Fish. or so they say, for the not so obvious reason that it is cheap or it makes them look cheap. They would say, "Eeew, I'd rather eat tinapa/sardines!" Oh yeah? It's as if tinapa/sardines is not tamban. But then again, the trick is in the style and recipe. How you do tamban is how you're gonna see tamban. Don't do "eeew" because it makes you look "Hilason" (obnoxious). Prices of fish now are sky high and fish supplies are meager, yet you have the gall to say "eeeww". What makes pigs special is the fact that pigs are the only animals that give us the best porky treats. I just hope that commercial feeds nowadays do not ruin such reputation of pigs. Because the porky and tasty quality of pigs' meat depends solely on the kinds of nutrients and proteins that the pigs get from feeds. While the other secret of pigs' meat quality also holds true, and that is pork gets even better when it comes from the babes, or the already four-month old pigs.

In fact two of my doe already died because before they could even give birth, they suffered stillbirth. They were bred right before they turned 4 months old and when they got pregnant it seemed awkward for them to be in the situation. There are two unfortunate outcomes for rabbits getting pregnant at 3-4 months old; stillbirth or refusal to nurse the newborn. But there are circumstances when a doe just turns out to be a good mother, but that is only rarely. And this another doe here, she got pregnant at 4 months old and she does not know what to do. I think mother instinct does not work on her. She is a reluctant mother and stubborn. She does not want to have anything to do with her newborn.

I cook some of it for dinners and sell some to neighbors that want fresh harvests. And what rocks even more is that I just find out my chickens, turkeys and pigs are fond of cooked sayote. I have fed my animals cooked papaya and they love it, I just can't believe they do the same with sayote!
