A 7-year-old intact male American Bulldog presented at the clinic with inflamed and necrotic digits, which the owner initially noted as a minor bruise a few weeks prior. Additionally, the dog displayed limping.
During the physical examination, a foul odor and presence of maggots were observed.
CBC showed regenerative anemia, along with elevated neutrophil and monocyte counts indicative of infection.
The owner was advised to proceed with digit amputation for Bruno, to remove the necrotic and infested tissue. Bruno is currently recovering and scheduled for a follow-up check-up in a week.
