Many keepers discuss how often do we need to feed our beloved bp. Some say every 3 days, others say every week.

In comparison, our white snake Aries (super mojave) eats 1 adult mouse per week (7days) while Gwen our butter bee was fed 2 sub adult mice every 5 days. Both of them are June hatchlings.

The result is, aries gained weight and built muscle at the same time, while Gwen became fat. Their weight significantly differ, but it can be noticed that our super mojave has a better built than our big butter bee.

Ps. No snake body shaming intended. As per research obesity in ball python is real, and to any animal/pet, even humans, obesity causes problems even death.

Also, Gwen's diet was changed from 5 day interval to 7 days with 1 adult mice. She will switch to weaned rats when the feeder is available.

While refilling their food we discovered one of our gravid mice delivered 5pinkies. This is our first time breeding rodents. So is the number of pinkies normal or should it be more than 5? Let us know in the comment section.

Our Gwen is in her pre shed phase!

Snakes are just like humans, We unknowingly break and shed our skin into tiny little pieces called skin flakes, however for snakes like our butter spider ball pyhton, they shed their skin in one piece.

Gwen is about to be in the blue phase where her eyes will be cloudy and her colors will be dull. She is releasing liquids in between her old and new skin to aid her in the shedding process.

This handsome creature is the new addition to the squad. He's a gift from a friend. Nope, he is not albino, as what most think when they see a white snake. Albinos lack the black coloration, and has yellow and white color with red eyes. But we will discuss more of that on a different post.

Aries is super mojave, he belongs to a ball python morph that has blue/black eyed leucistic (BEL) complex. When genes like mojave, lesser, butter, russo, fire are bred together they produce a white snake. Now, super mojaves are identified as a white snake with a gray head.
