The fire eel (Mastacembelus erythrotaenia) is a relatively large species of spiny eel. This omnivorous freshwater fish is native to in Southeast Asia but is also found in the aquarium trade.[1][3] Although it has declined locally (especially in Thailand) by overfishing, because of this trade it remains common overall.[1]

Tank mates

Fire eel is considered a docile fish that will mostly ignore bigger tank-mates. However, it is a predator and cannot be housed with smaller fish as these may be easily consumed. Best tank-mates should include Oscar fish, Angel fish, Bumblebee Catfish, and Green terror

Calico Ranchu

The Ranchu (蘭鋳, 蘭虫, 卵虫, ranchū, 'Dutch worm') (also Maruko) is a hooded variety of goldfish native to China. It is referred to as the 'king of goldfish" by the Japanese. Maruko more commonly refers to the egg-fish goldfish., Ranchus require 20 gallons per each.
