• BASIC LEOPARD GECKO SETUP •

THE TANK:
Most keepers use a minimum of 12Liters Megabox or Large Plastic Shoebox (7"x14"x5"). Put holes on the tank specially if you're using Megabox.

TANK SUBSTRATE:
Tank substrate is the material where your gecko usually poops. It means it is also the material which you would usually clean. Recommended Tank substrate can be tissue paper, paper or anything that is not loose such as sand or small pebbles which your gecko might intake.

HUMID HIDE:
A good material to use for a humid hide is the 750ml or 1000ml microwaveable container or any Tupperware that can fit on your tank and where your gecko can climb on.. Put a hole enough where your gecko can crawl inside and feel secure. Substrate inside the humid hide is a MUST to keep the humidity levels at maximum. Usual substrate are cocopeat, peat moss, tissue paper or cloth and make sure it is sprinkled with water for humidity.

DRY HIDE:
Some keepers place dry hide inside their tank. Its the same as the humid hide without the substrate. Its a place where your gecko can crawl or relax when it doesn't want humid environment. In my basic setup the dry hide of the gecko is on the top of the humid hide since my tank is covered with a lid.

CALCIUM & FEEDER DISH:
You can use a wide variety of calcium and feeder dish from glassware to plasticwares. The important thing on choosing a dish is that it is accessible to the gecko and the gecko's food cant escape! Water Dish is optional. (If you would place a water dish put some big pebbles inside the dish so its not deep enough for your gecko to drown.)

TEMPERATURE:
Coolside should be 24-27degrees celsius while warm side should be 26-30degrees. Luckily Temperature here in the Philippines is great for leopard geckos so heatpads are optional.

This Basic setup is just a minimum. You can always go for a bigger and more creative tank and put other spaces for your leopard gecko to crawl/play (Tho I doubt they'll do since they love to sleep!).😂 Others even go for a bioactive terrarium so you can watch them on display. ;)
