‼️TOXIN ALERT‼️

Sago palms are HIGHLY toxic to dogs. We have lived with these in our backyard for years and have had no issues. We didn't even know they were toxic!

Yesterday my husband and I decided to do a little landscaping. This involved ripping out one of our sago palm trees. My very curious and food motivated pup, Tootsie decided she would go over for a nibble of the roots when we weren't looking.

A couple hours later she was vomiting uncontrollably. She spent the night at the vet and will likely have to spend a second night. She is fighting liver failure.

Please be cautious with this toxic plant and your fur babies!

Your pet's sharp ears might be a blessing in most cases, but over the holidays they are a curse 😫

Dogs, for instance, can hear sounds from distances over four times further away than what humans can hear. To them, a firecracker going off in a neighbor's yard will sound like it's going off right beside their head!

This is why New Year's eve celebrations are so traumatic for our companion animals! The combo of bright lights and loud noises, while exciting to humans, is downright terrifying for cats, dogs, and any other pets.

• Please appeal to your family, friends and neighbors not to use firecrackers.

• Please keep all your pets indoors as we ring in the New Year. For strays, please allow them access to a safe space in your yard if they come to you.
