Happy Birthday to our DCF Twins, Skit and Sugar!

These two were adopted almost at the same time. The shelter didn’t have Sugar’s birthday details so we figured, it would be nice if she celebrates it with Skit as they’re both around the same age and they’re really inseparable.

When Sugar is aloof and she’s not sure if she wants to hang out with us, we only have to call Skit to join so she is more comfortable around us. Skit is Sugar’s service dog. 😅

They have completely opposite personalities and this makes them more special! We love you Sugaroo and Skitoy!❤️❤️

The past months has been a trip and back to the vet with Serena. Taking care of senior dogs has become something so meaningful. It can be tiring and more worrisome (and costly) but it’s something we can actually be proud of. Don’t you think?

Meggy had a biting incident at home, this was unusual for his pet owners as he’s known to be friendly but hated walking. His owners were also concerned that he’s not comfortable going to the vet so they always schedule a vet to come in at home. His behavior problem became more apparent when he doesn’t even want to be leashed anymore.

After training, Meggy transformed into a gentle dog, he’s comfortable with the leash, good with walking and even did well with vet visits. 🫶🐶

Over a decade ago, our puppy class journey began in the humble confines of Bahay ni Bantay’s parking garage in Makati.

This time, the Puppy Kindergarten Class finds a new home at the Dog Ranch in Lipa.

Sandy is an Aspin who was adopted from the streets of Boracay. Rescues like Sandy can be anxious and sometimes take a while to warm up. Her anxiety and stress resulted in a couple of biting incidents- dogs and human. Not giving up hope, Sandy was enrolled in our proven top tier programs. After weeks of compassionate care and training from the DCF team, Sandy was cleared to go home better prepared to face the world with her new found family.

📖Unveiling the Genetics of Dog BehaviorA study conducted at the University of Arizona and University of Washington showed trainability, chasing, and aggression as heritable traits. Avoid blaming your dog trainers for everything. We’re here to help you shape your dog’s personality but- I cannot emphasize this enough- it’s very important to know where you get your puppies.Same study found that some breeds inherit these traits- fear of strangers and other dogs, attention-seeking behavior, sensitivity to touch, and energy level.

Baby Coach tends to confidently explore on her own now. She loves the beach. 💙With each new environment, we help develop a positive association. 🌊🌴 We are always asked, how is she with the dogs? She doesn’t have any playtime with our dogs yet, although she squeals in excitement every time she sees them. 😍 In our years working with dogs, we can tell that not all dogs and babies are going to be besties. You can’t push the baby, you can’t pressure the dog. Everyone needs to be happy and safe. 👧🐶

We train dogs following these simplified steps. Week 1 : We introduce structure and schedules. Week 2 : Start developing focus and obedience. Week 3: Continue rewarding appropriate behaviors. Week 4: Fine tune basic obedience and discipline Week 5: Behavior proofing until graduation. Each dog is different, some may need more time to progress. Each student is trained with patience, understanding and acceptance.
