There are a lot of myths across the country about cats. Some of my examples are beliefs only in the Philippines, and some are applicable in other countries. In addition to my example, big black cats in the Philippines said to be mythical creature called "Aswang". Aswang is an evil creature in Filipino folklore that transforms into different animals such as cats, pigs, or dogs. But in Japan, black cats are considered lucky. In fact, black cats in Japan believe that it will protect your house from bad spirits and will bring you a fortune.

It is just an example that we all have different beliefs. Despite the differences, we must respect the superstition of another country.

There are a lot of benefits when a dog or a cat is being neutered or spayed. One of the benefits is the female pet can live a longer life when she is neutered. Spaying can help prevent urine infection and breast cancer. In male pets, neutering prevents testicular cancer. Spaying also helps our community to control the population of homeless animals. There are a lot of animals that roamed in the street because of a lack of shelter. In able to prevent many animals to be homeless, spaying and neutered are the best way.

Let's promote free spay and neuter in every Barangay in the Philippines. Every animal deserves a loving home.

Most of the animal shelter in the Philippines is a non-government organization (NGO) made only by volunteers. They experienced a shortage of budget to feed and treat all the animals that were rescued. Most of the shelters were in full capacity because of thousands of stray animals that are roaming in the street. As citizens, we shouldn’t always depend on the organization to rescue animals that suffered from brutality. Everyone must do their part to help animals.

We should give them another chance to experience happiness and to be loved by humans.

On 2019, there are 12 million stray animals roamed in the street, according to the Philippines Animal Welfare Society (PAWS)
There are a lot of animals who died due to hunger, cold, thirst, and cruelty. Due to having no permanent shelter, they are forced to stay in the cold floor of the street. Because of the pandemic that we are facing, many animal shelters are seeking for help in able to provide for their rescued animals and care takers. Many animal shelters are also in full capacity.

Let’s all help our furry friends and provide shelter for them. If you see any stray animals in the street, don’t hesitate to give them water and food. Animals will appreciate if you take them to your home.
