Denden, an 8-year-old dog, was brought to the clinic due to an enlarged testicle that he has been chewing on. 😔🩺 Upon careful observation and examination, Denden was diagnosed with a Sertoli cell tumor caused by cryptorchidism. 🫢 The Sertoli cell tumor was then surgically removed. 😷🩹 Denden is in recovery, still active as ever, and has retained his strong appetite! 🙌✨

Sertoli cell tumors are tumors in the testicles that specifically affect the Sertoli cells. These cells are normally located in the male reproductive glands. Sertoli cell tumors are noninvasive, but 10-20% may be malignant. The specific cause of Sertoli cell tumors is unknown, but dogs suffering from cryptorchidism are more likely to develop a Sertoli cell tumor. 😲 What's cryptorchidism, you ask? 🤔 Well, it's the condition wherein a dog will have a testicle that has not descended into the sc***um. 😱 Treatments for Sertoli cell tumors include surgical removal of the tumor, supportive care, and chemotherapy if the tumor has metastasized. 🐶🩺

Are you curious as to what's best way to prevent testicular tumors in your male doggo? 🤔 Have him thoroughly examined by a veterinarian! 💙💚

Shelby, a lovable Golden Retriever with a history of reoccurring epistaxis, was brought to the clinic. Recent episodes of epistaxis were continuous until July 19, 2024, when Shelby experienced seizures and right-sided paralysis. 😢 Due to him becoming bedridden, Shelby developed bedsores which became infected and necrotic. 😔 But here's the good news! 😱😁 After being confined, rehabilitated and treated extensively at the clinic for almost over 2 months, Shelby is back to his normal and playful self! 🥰

Strokes are caused by a the loss of blood flow to parts of the brain which leads to tissue damage and neurologic abnormalities. 🫨 Strokes in dogs are classified into two, hemorrhagic strokes and ischemic strokes. The latter are more common in dogs. How to prevent strokes, you ask? 🤔 Routine check-ups with screening blood work! 🩺💉🩹Because strokes are often associated with underlying disease patterns, prioritizing the wellnes and care for our lovable doggos is essential! 🐶💚💙

Survivor, a rescued cat with unknown medical history, was brought to the clinic with a noticeable odor coming from her necrotic left forepaw. 😞 Examinations were conducted, and the patient tested positive for FCoV and GIA. 😔 She was immediately confined, given prompt treatment, and underwent amputation up to the level of the shoulder when her condition stabilized. After almost a month of confinement and treatments, Survivor has been discharged and is now happily being cared for by her rescuer! 🥰😍🥳

Necrosis is defined as premature cell death that occurs as a result of injury or damage to cells and tissues. 😱 This can be caused by the body's abnormal immune response to different factors, namely physical trauma, infections, and disease. In the abnormal immune response, the inflammatory cells attack the walls of the blood vessels which results in the disruption of blood flow and eventually hypoxia (lack of oxygen) of the affected tissues, leading to the death of the tissue. 🫣 This can impair a pet's natural healing process and is of the utmost necessity that it be removed to make a full recovery. 😞

We are extremely grateful to Survivor's rescuer for rushing her to us for prompt treatment! 🙏 Such selfless dedication should be celebrated! 🥰
