This is Mako, a male dog with transmissible venereal tumor. After several sessions of chemotherapy, we are happy to announce that Mako is now tumor free.

Although most TVT cases are diagnosed by the gross appearance of the mass in the ge***al area, we would like to emphasize that the standard diagnostic test is still cytology or histopathology showing the characteristic TVT cells.

Chemotherapy is a risky treatment. A definitive diagnosis must be done first to ensure that the benefit of the treatment outweighs the risk.

Here in Animed Veterinary Clinic, we make sure that we offer the standard of care and treatment.

We just want to share our BIG WIN against BIG C.

This is Putol, a male rescued cat, with a very large aggressive cancer growing inside his right nose resulting to displacement of his right eye (first picture). After several sessions of chemotherapy, we manage to significantly reduce the size of the tumor (second picture). Putol can now see and breathe properly.

The fight is not yet finished. Putol is still under close monitoring for possible complications and recurrence.

Two is not always better than one.

This is our 9-month old American bulldog patient that underwent two operations - emergency CS, and gastrotomy under gas anesthesia due to dystocia (difficulty giving birth), and foreign body ingestion. We extracted 3 puppies, and a Crocs Jibbit with sharp metal.

We can learn two lessons here. First, immature female dogs have higher risk of complications during pregnancy. If you intent to breed your dog, do it after the 1st heat.

Two, always supervise your dogs especially if they have indiscriminate eating behavior. They might end up eating non digestible items, worst, sharp objects that may lead to bowel perforation.

Animed is capable of both diagnosing, and treating such conditions. We are open daily from 10 am to 6:30 pm.

Images below are abdominal xrays of a dog with history of foreign body ingestion. Magnified portion of the the picture is showing us a needle that was accidentally eaten and moved along the gastrointestinal tract of the patient. Luckily, there was no signs of perforation and the patient is doing well.

This is a reminder to our furparents that dogs and cats of any age are like little toodlers. They are prone to foreign body ingestion because they have tendency of putting anything in their mouth and swallow it. Signs of foreign body ingestion may include vomiting, retching, lethargy, abdominal distention, or unable to defecate.

Supervise your furbabies and prevent them from contact with small objects. Visit your trusted veterinarian if you suspect your furbabies of ingesting unwanted objects.
