☀️☀️☀️What is HEAT STROKE? ☀️☀️☀️

Heat stroke is a heat disorder with a high level of severity, characterized as an acute emergency secondary to a body temperature increase above 41 °C associated with a systemic inflammatory response, neurological dysfunction, and may cause multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (Bruchim et al. 2006)

Clinical signs:
📌Varies with severity of heat disorder:
Changes in breathing pattern (panting), elevation in body temperature.

📌Prostration, emesis, and diarrhoea in mild to moderate cases.

📌Rapid progression to ataxia, seizures, and cardiorespiratory collapse in severe cases.

📌Other signs: muscle tremors, oedema, and blood dyscrasias.

📌Clinical signs of organ failure after 3 to 5 days.

📌Cardiovascular: weak or irregular pulse, ventricular tachycardia, premature ventricular complexes (VPCs), and arterial hypotension.

📌Neurological dysfunction: syncope, disorientation, stupor, cortical blindness, ataxia, seizures, or coma.

📌Patients in shock may present with seizures.

📌Obtuse mental state and comatose state observed in some cases.
