WHAT IS AN AQUAPONICS SYSTEM?

Aquaponics is the combination of aquaculture or the cultivation of fish and other aquatic animals, and hydroponics or growing of plants without soil.

The water from the tank contains wastes from the fishes which will be delivered to the plants where bacteria converts the wastes into nutrients through nitrification, the nutrients will then be absorbed by the plants and at the same time oxygenate the water. The clean oxygenated water from the plants will then be delivered back to the tank for the fishes and the cycle will continue.

Double A Company is a partnership enterprise with proponents started from a competitive grant in the Department of Agriculture through Agriculture Marketing and Assistance (AMAS), the program Young Farmers Challenge Fund. Organized primarily through seminars and program dissemination of the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist of Malungon. Through purposive discussion and distinctive collaboration, the BMC / Business proposal for the enterprise have been drafted.

With the dream and idea to excel, the proponents intuitively continued pursuing and have been granted by the desired start-up capital. The win and opportunity fired up the spirit of agripreneurs to deliberate more and enhance the model for higher competition and hereby, present times.

The help from the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist ensured partners and potential buyers to the business which made the enterprise sustainable and proficient in producing the quality expected. The collaborative effort of both party distinguished the enterprise from subsiding and rest assure appreciating in multiple aspects.

ᴊɪᴄᴋ ʟ. ᴀᴄᴜᴘᴀɴ is currently a student in Mindanao State University - General Santos City and thriving on his 4th year in the academe. He is an active student leader to various leadership opportunities and part of numerous organization. Pursuing Agripreneurship is the highlight of his year this 2022.

ᴢʏᴘʜʀ ᴋᴇɴᴛ ꜱ. ᴅᴇɴɪʟᴀ is also a 4th year student, attending one of the institutions in the north, the Technological University of the Philippines. Just recently, he received numbers of awards with his talents and actively participating in lots of activities including but is not limited to Singing, Dancing, and Seminars/Workshops - some relating to Agriculture.

Jick and Zyphr started this dream of becoming a renowned Agripreneur not only in the locality but also internationally after having to win a grant as a group in the 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙜 𝙁𝙖𝙧𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙚 𝙁𝙪𝙣𝙙 of the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance under the Department of Agriculture.
