Updates on Recent Purchases for PARA Haven Shelter 🐾

Thanks to some extra funds we received last week, our caretakers were able to get much-needed supplies and replacements. Along with taking a dog to the vet, we’ve been able to purchase a new large cooking pot (our old one finally wore out), cleaning supplies, and essential vitamins and medicines like Immunol, LIV52, multivitamins, and Iron+B complex for our rescues.

We posted about a dog earlier today who needed rescuing. There are hundreds of dogs here that need rescuing and if we had the means to rescue them all we would.

We are way way over capacity now and to keep on taking in dogs would be putting our whole operation in danger.

So I made a decision to post about the dog in the hope that SOMEONE would help. That someone would offer to adopt the dog after treatment. That somone other than DAS would actually do something.

This of course generated negative comments - and then once someone makes a negative comment, so many people come out of the woodwork to jump on the bandwagon. Pointing out times we have failed to help them, or refused a rescue. Without any reference to context.

Nothing mentioned about the 1000's of lives we HAVE saved. Or the thousands of free spays and neuters we have provided.
Or the free clinic that to date has treated over 300 owned pets.

We do absolutely welcome intelligent dialogue about the problem here and are very willing to hear solutions!!

But I guess this is just another aspect of running a rescue organisation. When I read these comments, I think of Theodore Roosevelts quote - The Man in The Arena..

We did rescue the dog - because someone actually stepped up and helped.

🐾 Urgent Need for Flea & Tick Prevention

Our shelter dogs are facing a recurring issue with fleas, ticks, and mange, and we’re in urgent need of NexGard or Bravecto to protect them. Currently, we have 85 rescue dogs who need treatment. NexGard Chewable Tablets for large breeds (10-25kg) cost ₱2,067 for 3 tablets.

Estimated Need:

85 dogs ÷ 2 dogs per tablet (for large breeds) = 43 tablets
Total cost: ₱2,067 x (43 / 3 tablets) ≈ ₱29,628
