Milo, a male intact 11-Month-Old Dachshund presented to the clinic with a chief complaint of corneal edema.

Corneal edema refers to the swelling of the cornea- the clear, dome-shaped outer surface of the eye that helps you see clearly. This condition is caused by a build up of fluid in the cornea. When left untreated, corneal edema can lead to cloudy vision.

Corneal edema is caused by any underlying infectious disease or problem such as fungal infection, blood parasites or any microorganisms.

In Milo's case, he has also got ticks minor infestation before clinical signs occur. Then, our veterinariam decided to perform 3 ways test specifically a test for Babesia, Anaplasma, and Ehrlichia that is common blood parasites infecting the dogs and other animals. Unfortunately, he tested positive for Ehrlichia. The doctors diagnosis became definite that the patient suffering from Ehrlichiosis with progressive sign of corneal edema.

Ehrlichiosis is a disease caused by Ehrlichia coming from infected ticks. A single tick can spread the disease if the tick became infected with the parasites.

Treatment and medication was given to the patient and hoping for his fastest recovery.

Reminder: Let our pets become free from this disease by eradicating or controlling ticks infestations.💞

"Dental Prophylaxis in an adult Pomeranian"

Starting off as plaque, the gummy substance that forms on your pets teeth after a meal, tartar progresses to cause periodontal disease, which—in addition to causing pain and severe dental issues in its advanced stages—may also induce kidney and liver problems and changes in the heart muscle.

Check your pets teeth now to avoid some dental issues.

Creeky a 2-year-old intact female Bully from Lucena City presented at the clinic with Aural hematoma due to pinnal trauma.

Before the operation, her ear was torn from scratching, making it severely damage of the tissue. She got sedated before the procedure.

Pic #1. A photo of Creeky presenting Aural Hematoma.

Pic #2. The operation proper. We clean the ear with 50% hydrogen peroxide and povidone iodine. We used a conventional approach by placing a pressure(butones) just to compressed her ear for not allowing the pus production again in the area.

Pic #3. Post-operation started. Cleaning and obseravation of wounds. Giving proper medications to combat infection.

Pic #4. At day 5, the wound was getting better and she was sedated again for placing another pressure(butones in front) due to reinfection and removing one buton as well.

Pic #5/6. Pressure removal. Healed wounds at day 10.

Thank you PVC team for taking care of our adorable patient Creeky.
