Tick season is in full swing! This is John and Laura's dog Burdock who seems to attract ticks to his face. You can see in the photo how small a young tick is, and how easily it would be missed if Burdock's previously red face wasn't so gracefully grey now.
✅Check yourselves and your pets for ticks after walks.
✅If you find a tick, remove it as soon as possible. The safest way is to use fine-tipped tweezers (it is important to grasp the tick close to the skin and pull upwards slowly and firmly so the mouthparts are removed) or a tick removal tool. One of our team can remove a tick from your pet for you if you prefer.
This tiny tick was actually already dead when removed - this is because Burdock is given a monthly chew which kills fleas and ticks shortly after they bite. This means it hopefully died before passing on any nasty diseases, although as Burdock is so prone to picking up ticks he is also vaccinated against Lyme disease.
