Hindi lahat ng hamster sa center na-aadopt.

This is GB, He has been with us since January 2022. Pina-adopt na nasa 8 months old na. Hindi na siya napa-adopt for the reason na very aggressive na siya towards human interaction. Palagi nang nangangagat possible dahil he lost trust sa kanyang previous owner. So we have decided not to let him be adopted. After 11 months, namatay siya under our care. Nakaka lungkot dahil hindi lahat ng hamster sa aming center ay na-aadopt and ito ay isa sa mga example. Rest assured na binibigay namin ung best namin para ma-adopt sila at mabigyan sila ng maayos ng buhay habang sila ay nasa amin.

We also need your help to promote adoption para may mga loving owners na mag take in sa kanila.

Hi guys! Alam nyo na ba ang tamang pag aalaga ng Hamsters? Ngayon ating balikan muli ang mga paraan ng pag aalaga 🐹

Tamang Pag-aalaga sa mga Hamster

1. Mamili ng Angkop na Tirahan

- Ang isang alagang hamster ay nangangailangan ng isang lugar na komportable at may sapat na espasyo para sa kanya. Kailangan ding mag lagay ng mga LARUAN, TAGUAN, AT MAPAGLILIBANGAN ng iyong alaga. At pumili ng BEDDINGs na maaari nilang pagtaguan o hukayin dahil ito ang natural na behavior ng mga hamster , ang minimum deep ng lalim ay nasa 6-10 inches at pwede pa itong dagdagan. Dapat ring mag karoon ng Food Dish at water bowl sa loob para sa seedmixs and clean water source ang ating hamster.

2. Ilagay ang Tirahan sa Tamang Lugar

- Hindi maaaring ilagay sa kahit saang lugar lamang ang tahanan ng iyong alaga. Dahil ang isang hamster ay itinuturing na isang prey ng iba pang hayop. Sa madaling salita, ang paglalagay sa kanilang tahanan sa isang hindi ligtas na lugar ay maaari nilang ikamatay.
- Ilagay ang cage sa isang area ng bahay na malamig, malinis, walang direktang sikat ng araw, hindi maingay, hindi masyadong maliwanag at walang ibang hayop na maaring manggulo at mangain sakanila.

3. Maghintay ng Tamang Oras bago Sila Hawakan

- Ang paghawak sa alagang hamster ay hindi dapat na minamadali (lalo na kung bagong dating lamang). Dahil tulad ng pagkakaibigan, kailangan muna nilang magtiwala sa iyo bago mo sila hawakan. Kung hindi ay maaari ka nilang kagatin bilang defense mechanism at maari rin itong maging dahilan ng kanilang stress at Wild behavior.

4. Pakainin ng Tama

- Ang pagpapakain sa hamster ay binubuo ng ibat-ibang pagkain, dahil sila ay omnivores . Sila ay kumakain ng seeds, grains, nuts, plants, fruits, vegetables , insects at minsan cooked meat. Siguraduhing nakagawa muna ng research bago mag bigay ng mga ganto pag kain sa hamster or pwede ring bumili ng mga seedmix na ready made na para kainin ng mga hamster. Tandaan na dapat well balanced ang pag kain nila. Tulad ng pag tingin sa tamang percentage fiber, fat and protein.

5. Linisin ang Kanilang Cage .

- Nararapat ding linisin natin ang cage ng ating mga hamster , para mapanatili ang malinis, ligtas at malayo sa mga sakit na environment. Maiiwasan din nito ang mababong amoy ng cage. Ngunit sensitibo ang pag lilinis nang cage dahil maaring masira ang bahay at amoy kanilang inilagay na mag cau-cause ng stress sakanila. Narito ang mga paraan ng pag lilinis ng cage para mabawasan ang risk or sobrang stress.

a. Spot cleaning, ito ay ginagawa tuwing kada dalawang lingo or kada buwan . Ito ay pag lilinis lang ng mga part na sobranv dumi na. Dito kukunin lang ang mga beddings na naihian, area na p**o poops at area na madaming bulok na food. Sinasala din dito ang sandbath para matanggal anv mga namuo dahil sa ihi at mga poops at beddings na nahalo.

b. Linisin ang food dish at water bowl/ bottle araw - araw para maiwasan ang pag laki o dami ng bilang ng bacteria na masama sa kanilang kalusugan.
c. Palitan ng bedding depende sa laki ng cage. Kung ikaw ay may 100L pataas , maaring mag palit ng beddings kada 6 months or 1 year.

: Mahalagang magkaroon ng malaking cage para mailagay lahat ng pangangailangan ng hamster, bukod doon ito rin ay makakatulong sakanilang mental health at behavior dahil sa bibigay ang malaking space na dapat talagang meron sila tulad sa wild life. Makakatulong rin ito sayo bilabg owner na ma lessen ang pag lilinis " the bu**er size, lesser cleaning and happy hamster"

6. Maglaan ng Oras sa Pag-aalaga

- Isa sa mga pinakamahalagang bagay sa pag-aalaga ng hamster ay ang paglalaan ng oras dito. Ito ay para mapanatiling sila ay ligtas at naasikaso.

Why Adopt?

Marami sa mga may-ari ng hamsters ngayon are not educated enough pagdating sa pag-aalaga ng hamster. Kaya ang nangyayari is pumapasok sila sa breeding. Once na dumami na sila and nagsisimula nang mag-away ung hamsters or umaamoy na, tinatamad na ang mga owners sa pag-alaga sa kanila kaya na rerehome sila sa ibang tao na may same situation sa kanila, wala din silang masyadong alam sa pag-alaga kaya na uulit ung mga nangyayari.

Kaya natin pinropromote ang pag-aadopt is para marescue or mabigay sa mga taong handang matuto mag-alaga ang mga hamsters na need ng care. Hindi lang po hamster ang binibigay namin kung hindi ung knowledge ng pag-aalaga sa kanila.

Hindi namin ni rerecommend na bumili ng hamsters sa mga petshops or sa mga unethical breeders dahil pagbumibili tayo, sinusupport natin ang mali nilang gawain sa pag-aalaga ng hamsters. Ang mga unethical breeders po ay walang pakeelam sa welfare ng hamster, ang importante sa kanila is makabenta sila ng pares dahil benta po ang habol nila. May kinikita sila ngunit hindi naman nila nilalaan ung parte ng kita nila sa pagpapaayos ng condition ng mga hamsters nila. Kung may ituturo man sila sa mga customers nila, mali pa. The more that we buy, nagkakaroon ng demand, and with that demand, they will continue to supply. We have to end that somehow, by not creating the demand for that. It is so much better to adopt than to shop. 🙂

HAMdom FACT of the Day

Why caging 2 or more Hamster together is considered as Animal Abuse?

🐹 It is a fact that Hamsters are solitary animals, specialy Syrian and Chinese Hamsters. That means, caging 2 or more of them will result to a fight that can lead to their death.

🐹 According to Republic Act No. 10631, also known as The Animal Welfare Act. of 1998,

It shall be unlawful for any person to torture any animal, to neglect to provide adequate care, sustenance of shelter, or maltreat any animal or to subject any dog or horse to dogfights or horsefights, (Hamsterfights), kill or cause or procure to be tortured or deprived of adequate care, sustenance or shelter, or maltreat or use the same in research or experiments not expressly authorized by the Committee on Animal Welfare.

🐹 "SEC. 9. ANY PERSON WHO SUBJECTS ANY ANIMAL TO CRUELTY, maltreatment or neglect shall, upon conviction by final judgment, be punished by imprisonment and/ or fine, as indicated in the following graduated scale:

🐹 “(1) Imprisonment of one (1) year and six (6) months and one (1) day to two (2) years and/or a fine not exceeding One hundred thousand pesos (P100,000.00) if the animal subjected to cruelty, maltreatment or neglect dies;

🐹 “(2) Imprisonment of one (1) year and one (1) day to one (1) year and six (6) months and/or a fine not exceeding Fifty thousand pesos (P50,000.00) if the animal subjected to cruelty, maltreatment or neglect survives but is severely injured with loss of its natural faculty to survive on its own and needing human intervention to sustain its life; and

🐹 “(3) Imprisonment of six (6) months to one (1) year and/or a fine not exceeding Thirty thousand pesos (P30,000.00) for subjecting any animal to cruelty, maltreatment or neglect but without causing its death or incapacitating it to survive on its own.

🐹 Caging 2 or more hamsters in one cage can subject the animal to cruelty because of their solitary characteristics.
