Sharing our seedlings' indoor progress... (still waiting for true leaves)

Ang tagaaaal 😫...nothing beats the power of our mighty sun! 🌞

Patience, patience. We gotta have it. 🤨

Growth doesn't always show the progress that we want. Sometimes, it gives us the values that we need to develop within us. 🙆‍♀️🙆‍♂️

"You can't buy happiness, but you can grow plants and that's pretty much the same thing" -SavvyGrow

It must be the color green, or just the innate being of humans to nurture and care for something, but it's both relaxing and fulfilling to grow plants..'di ba?🤗🌿☘️🤲

Thank you Metro.Style & Anna de Leon for featuring us in this article! 🙂

“I love plants, but I’m not sure if they love me back. My constant excuse is that I don’t have a green thumb, but I’ve always wanted to grow something [on my own]. It was through a webinar hosted Calyn and Dindy of Cresco Hydroponics called Jumpstart Your Hydroponics Farming that I got started on growing my vegetables without soil. It was timely, too, since I had just moved into a new apartment with a balcony blessed with sun exposure from the East, where the sun rises,”

That's right, no green thumbs involved! With only some basic knowledge, in 30-45 days, you can grow and harvest your own greens too! Take it from Ms. Anna herself!😉

We'll be having our next webinar on September 26, 2020 at 10am!!!

Registration is now open 🤲🥬

“Minsan talaga kelangan maloko para mag grow”

-Dolly B. 🙂

We learned that seeds go into dormancy stage when stored for too long. To increase germination rate, we put the seeds for 2 days in the refrigerator while soaked in water, then proceeded with our usual germination technique. Et voila! 90% sprouted!

The explanation behind it is that we’re tricking the seeds that winter is done and it’s time to spring. Hence, the hugot line...😄

Thanks to Hydroponics Philippines for this info!

Glad to learn new things, and keep growing...🌱

Grateful for this makeshift greenhouse! It has given us a year of bountiful harvests, been with us through the ups & downs of learnings, and taught us that growth can be achieved, even in the smallest beginnings. It’s a goodbye for now. *bittersweet smile* 🙂👋

Sometimes we think nothing's happening, and then one day, you see it -- a spark of hope. 🌷 It may come as a budding flower for your plants, a random visitor bringing good news, a new client for your start up business.

Whatever they may be, may they come knocking on your doors soon! You.Just.Have.To.Keep.Going.

I think we're doing something right. They're now producing flowers! 😊

It’s nice when you see your plants growing well! But sometimes, some of them wilt and eventually die. 😢 It helps when we know the root causes, so we get to save them! 🌱

Possible causes of wilt:

- malnutrition
- too much/less pH
- high temperature
- not enough oxygen (brown roots)
- stress during transplant

Solutions:

✔️ check PPM (between 560-840)
✔️ check pH (between 5.5-6.5)
✔️ add mesh net to lessen direct sunlight during the hottest time of the day/make sure water temperature is less than 30C
✔️ check aeration (add air pump, check distance of roots to water)
✔️ make sure the roots do not break during transplant

They say the best time to harvest your lettuce is in the morning after it's had the night to recover from the hot sun!

Harvesting our 45 day old lettuce! (15 days from germination, 30 days from transplant)

Cresco, Personified

It started with a styrofoam box, some seeds, and a little bit of knowledge (and take note, no green thumb involved). For us, farming does not have to be big and complicated. We just tried, failed, succeeded, tried, failed, succeeded, and so far have been harvesting our hard earned labor while still in the same cycle. Recently, we launched our “Jumpstart Your Hydroponics Farming” webinar to help anyone who gave interest in learning hydroponics. After all, sharing our knowledge is also a part of our success because it also means we are growing with the people around us.

Cresco is Latin word for “I increase, rise, grow, thrive; multiply, augment. I come to be. I become visible, spring from, arise, come forth.” Cresco Hydroponics is all about being a work in progress. It is about starting with what we have, persisting, thereby pursuing growth. Because it is what we value.

We started with a styrofoam box using Kratky, now we are utilizing PVC pipes with NFT, tomorrow we will be exploring the dutch bucket method, and will be producing fruiting plants.

Cresco Hydroponics is not just urban farming. It is a seedling that we planted, that we tend to everyday (no pun intended), hoping for it the flourish one day.
