Ang tamang kulungan ng baboy para mapalaki ng maayos ay DAPAT SEMENTADO at may bubong. Pangunahing kaalaman ito na ang baboy kapag hndi sementado ang flooring ay magkakapulot ng bulate, mahirap painumin ng tubig, madalas magkakasakit at mahihirapan ang beterinaryo gamutin dahil kinakailangan pang lumusong sa putikan
Ang tamang lugar kung saan dapat iturok (intramuscular) ang antibiotic tulad ng Bacterid Injectable para magamot ang mga baka na may pneumonia o sipon na ang palatandaan ay pamimilay o pag higa ng baka o kalabaw. Gawin ito sa loob ng tatlong araw gamit ang fiber glass syringe na tulad ng nasa kanan (gamit ang metal na karayom na gauge 17 or 18)

Ang pangyayaring yun sa Purok Riverside sa Brgy Mayao Castillo noong September 24, 2020 ay syang ginamit ng City Agriculture office upang mag implement ng โDepopulation planโ sa katabing purok ng barangay at ito ay ang Purok Matahimik. Kung saan ipinatawag ng City Agriculture personnel at Quezon Provincial Veterinary Office ang mga pig raisers ng Purok Matahimik noobg ika-2 ng October 2020 uoang sabihin na kukumpiskahin ang mga baboy nila sa Lunes October 5, 2020 at nangyari nga ito, mahigit tatlumpong (30) kabahayan (household) sa Purok Matahimik ang pina*ok nila, kinuryente ang mga baboy na wala namang sakit at inilibing sa lupa gamit ang BACKHOE, bagay na ayon sa City Agriculture Office ay DEPOPULATION program or CULLING ( unproductive) upang hindi lumaganap ang African Swine Fever (ASF).
Linawin ko lang po na ang salitang DEPOPULATION sa termino ng programa na ASF control ay hindi nangangahulugan na sapilitang kukuhain ang inyong alagang baboy lalo paโt walang sintomas ng sakit. Ang gawaing DEPOPULATION ay pagbibigay payo lamang sa mga hog raisers (pig raisers) na huwag na munang mag parami ( actively increase their hog population) ng baboy sa mga lugar ng deklaradong may ka*o ng African Swine Fever batay o ayon sa Laboratory Confirmation na isinagawa ng Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) sa Department of Agriculture sa Quezon City, ibig pong sabihin, kelangan muna kumuha ng blood sample at isumite sa BAI for confirmation. Pag po hndi ganito ang pagkuha ng inyong mga alagang baboy calls for violation of our constitution which states, โNo person shall be deprived of life, liberty or propery without due process of law, nor any person be denied the equal protection of the law.โ
Ang mga baboy po nating alaga ay inyong tuwirang โpropertyโ o pag-aari, kaya hndi nila pwedeng kumpiskahin lalo paโt walang proper court order or malinaw na patunay na itoโy maaring mag dulot o magpalaganap ng anumang sakit.
Kahapon po, Sept 6, 2021, sa programa ni Manong Nick Pedro (Bandilyo), ay tinalakay niya ito at kanyang sinabi na hanggang ngayon, one year na po sa Oct 2, 2021, hndi pa nabayaran ang mga pig raisers ng Brgy. Mayao Castillo at iba pang Barangay sa Lucena, wala pa pong katiyakan na sila po ay mababayadan, nawaโy hndi na po muli maulit ang gawaing ito. Tandaan po natin, mali po na kumpiskahin at kuryentehin ang mga baboy na alaga ng mga magsasaka para lamang masabi na ginagawa ito upang mapigil ang ASF (African Swine Fever)
ANG TAMANG KULUNGAN NG MGA BABOY
Ang tamang kulungan po ng mga baboy ay sementado ang flooring, may pag lalagyan ng pagkain, at makakainom ng maayos ang mga baboy, dapat ito ay mayroon ding maayos na bubong. Sa panggagamot, hindi po magtatalsikan ang mga putik.
GUMAMIT PO TAYO NG DISINFECTANT
Gumamit po tayo ng disinfectant para is-spray sa paligid ng kulungan ng baboy, isang oaraan kung paano maitataguyod ang BIOSECURITY para maiwasan ang salit ng mga hayop tulad ng ASF (African Swine Fever).
Bawat isa ay may magagawa upang makatulong na maiwasan ang ASF. Ipatupad ang biosecurity upang mapanatiling ligtas ang inyong alagang baboy at ang inyong lugar laban sa ASF.
Just want to write a story that happened September 24 2020โ a pig owner of Brgy Mayao Castillo in Lucena City called me (Dr Winston Avillo) over the phone at around 11:20 AM. So, immediately, I came to visit the pigs, I rode the tricycle in Malaking Irrigation and instructed the driver to take me to the pig farm in Purok Riverside, Brgy. Mayao Castillo with the mentioned complaint of sudden deaths and anorexia (lack of appetite)
After seeing the pigs in the muddy area without shelter or roof, I instructed the pig caretaker to isolate pigs with symptoms of coughing, lack of appetite, huddling (chilling), in short, to put the said pigs in pens where the veterinarian can inject the pigs for three consecutive days because that is, what is required for antibiotic treatment to take its action or build body resistance against the disease (whatever it is) after the antibiotic is administered to the sick animal. Without the required pen or isolation, the veterinarian cannot distinguish the patient (or the pig) that was injected on the first day and therefore the regimen to give the injectable antibiotic for three days cannot be attained.
Moreover, it will be very difficult for the veterinarian to inject pigs in the muddy situation like what is seen in the photo, the moment you approach the pig, it will run and you will find it difficult to administer the injectable antibiotic and that is the rea*on why, kailangan po muna natin kulungin ang inyong alagang baboy na may sakit, tatalsik po ang mga putik sa aking mukha oras tumakbo ang baboy sa aking pag lapit.
After 1 day, I went back but the pig caretaker told me na naubos na po ang mga baboy dahil nangamatay na sila dahil sa ASF. Pero nang hanapin ko po ang kulungan na sabi ko ay kailangan para magamot ang mga baboy, he replied โwala po kaming ginawang kulungan.โ
The moral lesson to this story, before you buy your stocks or pigs, or any other animal, be sure to prepare the roofing or shelter for the animals.
Even animals have the right to be treated fairly.

Lucena City Veterinary Office Meat Inspection services regulate the sale of meat from talipapa stalls whether they have undergone meat inspection in the City Slaughterhouse for food safety purposes, in the light of ASF (African Swine Fever) outbreak. EAT PORK, ASF IS NOT A THREAT TO HUMAN HEALTH.
ASF are characterised by high fever, depression, anorexia and loss of appetite, haemorrhages in the skin (redness of skin on ears, abdomen and legs), abortion in pregnant sows, cyanosis, vomiting, diarrhoea and death within 6-13 days (or up to 20 days). Mortality rates may be as high as 100%.
Lucena City Veterinary Office conducts regular visits to some pig raisers for animal health purposes.
