کچھ بنیادی نکات جن پر ہر نئے شوقین کو لازمی عمل کرنا چاہیے۔

• لوبرڈز کو ہمیشہ فلٹر والا پانی استعمال کروایں۔

•کبھی بھی دانہ یا بیج ایسی دکان سے مت خریدیں جو پرندوں یا جانوروں کی خرید و فروخت کرتا ہو۔

• لوبرڈز کو بریڈنگ کے دوران 22٪، مولٹ پر 17٪، ریسٹ پر 13٪ تقریباً پروٹین کی ضرورت ہوتی ہے لہذا لوبرڈز کو ان کی ضروریات کے مطابق متوازن خوراک محیا کریں اور اس چیز کو یقینی بنائیں کے جو خوراک آپ دے رہے ہے وہ اس سے ان کی ضرورت پوری ہو۔

• نئے خریدے گئے لوبرڈز کو ہمیشہ کم از کم 15 دن کے لیے شیڈ سے الگ قرنطینہ میں رکھیں، 40 دن زیادہ بہتر ہیں۔

•روزانہ کی بنیاد پر رات کو پانی نکالیں اور صبح دوبارہ برتن دھو کر تازہ پانی دیں۔

• کم از کم 12 گھنٹے لائٹس بند رکھیں اور اپنے پرندوں کو 12 گھنٹے آرام دیں، 14-16 گھنٹے زیادہ بہتر ہے۔

• اپنے شیڈ میں مناسب ہوا کی گردش اور وینٹیلیشن یقینی بنائیں پھر باہر جو بھی درجہ حرارت ہو، صرف اس چیز کا خیال کریں کے سیدھی ہوا لوبرڈز کو نہ لگے۔

• جب بھی کوئی پرندہ بیمار ہوتا ہے تو اس کی بیٹھ کا مشاہدہ کریں اور سینیئرز یا ڈاکٹر کے ساتھ شئیر کرکے رہنمائی حاصل کریں۔

• ہمیشہ ایک ہفتے کے بعد ٹرے صاف کریں اور صفائی کے وقت پرندوں کی بیٹھ کا مشاہدہ کریں۔

• روزانہ کم از کم 30 منٹ اپنے پرندوں کے سامنے بیٹھیں اور ان کی سرگرمیوں کا مشاہدہ کریں تاکہ جب کوئی پرندہ بیمار ہو جائے تو آپ کو اس کی حرکت دیکھ کے فوراً معلوم ہو جائے گا کہ یہ پرندہ بیمار ہے۔

کیا طوطے سرد موسم میں زندہ رہ سکتے ہیں؟

ساتھی طوطے سرد موسم کو اچھی طرح برداشت نہیں کرتے۔

جب کہ جنگلی میں کچھ طوطے سردیوں میں سرد درجہ حرارت کے مطابق ہوتے ہیں، پالتو طوطے اس درجہ حرارت کے مطابق ہوتے ہیں جس میں وہ پالے گئے تھے۔ یہ امکان نہیں ہے کہ اندرونی پالتو طوطا سردی میں باہر رہنے کے ساتھ اچھی طرح سے نمٹنے کے قابل ہو جائے گا.

اس کے علاوہ، پالتو جانوروں کے طور پر رکھے گئے زیادہ تر طوطے حیاتیاتی طور پر گرم درجہ حرارت کے مطابق ہوتے ہیں، ان کے آباؤ اجداد جنوبی امریکہ اور افریقہ جیسی جگہوں سے نکلتے ہیں۔ اس کا مطلب ہے کہ وہ سردی میں اچھی طرح سے نمٹنے کے امکانات کم ہیں۔

طوطوں کو بیرونی ایویری میں رکھنے والے مالکان کا کہنا ہے کہ پرندے موسم سرما میں کم درجہ حرارت کا مناسب طریقے سے مقابلہ کر سکتے ہیں اگر وہ وقت کے ساتھ ساتھ کم درجہ حرارت کے مختصر لیکن بار بار نمائش کے ذریعے اس سے ہم آہنگ ہو جائیں۔

تاہم، یہ یقینی بنانا زیادہ محفوظ ہے کہ آپ کے پرندے سال کے سرد مہینوں میں گھر کے اندر گرم ہوں۔

طوطوں کے لیے بہترین درجہ حرارت:

ڈاکٹر سوفی بیل کے مطابق پرندوں کے لیے بہترین درجہ حرارت 18 سے 22 ڈگری سیلسیس کے درمیان ہے۔ اگرچہ طوطے 29 ڈگری تک کسی بھی چیز کو برداشت کر سکتے ہیں۔

4 ڈگری سیلسیس سے کم کوئی بھی چیز آپ کے پرندے کے لیے نقصان دہ ہو سکتی ہے۔ پرندوں کو 30 ڈگری سیلسیس سے زیادہ گرمی کے دباؤ کا سامنا کرنا پڑ سکتا ہے۔

طوطے مستحکم درجہ حرارت سے فائدہ اٹھاتے ہیں، اس لیے یہ یقینی بنانا اچھا ہے کہ آپ کے گھر میں دن اور رات ایک جیسا درجہ حرارت برقرار رہے۔

مولٹ کے اترنے کا انحصار نسل، عمر اور سال کے وقت پر ہوتا ہے لیکن زیادہ تر پرندے ایک سال کے دوران مکمل طور پر مولٹ کرتے ہیں، بعض اوقات دو یا تین مولٹ ادوار میں تقسیم ہوتے ہیں، عام طور پر افزائش سے پہلے اور بعد میں۔ چھوٹے پرندوں کو اپنے پرواز کے پروں کو ڈھلنے اور دوبارہ اگانے میں تقریباً پانچ ہفتے لگتے ہیں، جس میں ہجرت کرنے والی نسلیں سب سے تیز ہوتی ہیں۔

More birds die every day from calcium deficiency than virtually any other nutritional issue. Calcium provides the structure for a bird’s bones and beak, as well as for connective tissue and the structure of their feathers. Because parrot’s bones are denser than most other bird species, they require substantially more absorbable calcium. Calcium requires Vitamin D3 and Magnesium to be properly sythesis. Not only is calcium critical for essential body structures, it also plays a critical role in mood stabilization. Too much or too little calcium may cause a parrot to experience high levels of anxiety, a know cause for parrot feather plucking.

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan – An environment council in the province has recently initiated an effort to stop the spread of the virus that causes the Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease (PBFD) among pet birds.

The Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD) and the Katala Foundation are together in the fight to save pet birds in the city and province from the disease that affects their beaks and feathers.

Jovic Fabello, information officer of the PCSD Staff, said Monday afternoon that both bodies wanted the PBFD virus to be detected early, and wildlife enforcers and other personnel of the Wildlife Trade Monitoring Unit (WTMU) to be trained how to identify early signs on pet birds.

“Hindi pa naman alarming, pero gusto natin na ma-avoid ang pagkalat n’ya sa ibang species ng birds sa Palawan (It’s not alarming yet, but we want to avoid its spread to other bird species in Palawan),” he said.

Strict monitoring of shipments of pet birds will also be conducted daily to ensure that the virus is prevented from coming in or going out of the province, he added.

According to the Avian Biotech website, PBFD is a viral disease that affects Old World and New World parrots, such as cockatoos, macaws, African grey parrots, Ringneck parakeets, Eclectus parrots, and lovebirds.

The virus attacks their feather follicles and their beaks and claw matrices, causing gradual malformation and necrosis. In later stages, it hampers their development.
