کئی وجوہات کی بنا پہ برڈز میں egg binding کے مسائل پیدا ہو سکتے ہیں اور سب سے عام کا تعلق خود انڈے، برڈکی خوراک، یا تولیدی راستے سے متعلق مسائل سے ہے۔ بعض اوقات، انڈا خود اتنا بڑا ہوتا ہے کہ آسانی سے گزر نہیں پاتا یا تولیدی نظام کے اندر اس کی position درستنہیں ہوتی جس کی وجہ سے پرندے کے لیے انڈا دینا عام طور پر ناممکن ہو جاتا ہے۔ غذائی مسائل egg binding کی ایک عام وجہ ہیں، خاص طور پر برڈز میں کیلشیم کی کمی کی وجہ سے انڈے کا خولکمزور رہ جاتا ہے اور انہیں پھنسنے کا زیادہ خطرہ بن سکتاہے۔ کیلشیم، وٹامن ای، اور وٹامن ڈی بچہ دانی اور بیضہ کی نالی کے پٹھوں کو اتنی طاقت سے سکڑنے میں مدد کرتے ہیںکہ وہ انڈے کو مرغی کے تولیدی نظام کے ذریعے باآسانی باہر منتقل کر سکیں۔ موٹے پرندوں میں بھی egg binding کا خطرہ زیادہ ہوتا ہے مرغی کے تولیدی نظام کے اندر انفیکشن، ٹیومر یا سوزش سوجن کا سبب بن سکتی ہے جو کہ egg binding کا باعثبنتی ہے۔

Egg binding problems can occur in birds for several reasons, and the most common are problems with the egg itself, the bird's diet, or the reproductive tract. Sometimes, the egg itself is too large to pass quickly, or its position within the reproductive system is incorrect, making it usually impossible for the bird to lay the egg. Dietary problems are a common cause of egg binding.
Calcium deficiency in birds, in particular, leaves the eggshells weak and can make them more prone to hatching. Calcium, vitamin E, and vitamin D help the muscles of the uterus and fallopian tubes contract strongly enough to move the egg out through the hen's reproductive system.
Fatty birds are also more prone to egg binding.
Infections, tumors, or inflammation within the hen's reproductive system can cause inflammation that also leads to egg binding.
