❇️Where we deliver reinforcement matters a lot. ✔️ It sets the occasion for the next repetition of the behavior. ✔️ Helps to keep the loop clean. No unwanted behaviors between C and A. ✔️ Makes the next repetition easier, more challenging, or maintains the same level of difficulty. #dogtraining #dogtrainer #clickertraining #dogbehavior #behaviorist #postivereinforcementdogtraining #dogschool #obedience #dogsport #dogtrainingtips
🐕 Teach your dog to go to the mat with a door-knock cue in 4 steps! ✅ Before you start, make sure to teach “go on the mat.” ✅ Ensure your dog can perform “go on the mat” fluently on cue. ✅ Remember to move smoothly to the front doors. You may need to go through different rooms in your house before reaching the front door. ✅ Later steps involve adding unexpected knocking, a known person coming, and more! You can also use this to change cues for different behaviors! #dogtraining #dogtrainingtips #obedience #dogobedience #clickertraining #positivereinforcementtraining #dogbehavior #doormanners #dogtrainer
Relax, you won’t spoil your dog with positive reinforcement. 🐶 Human behavior is complex, and our response to training methods varies. Interestingly, we often hesitate to use positive reinforcement, like giving treats to our dogs or adjusting our schedules, while being more accepting of punishment. 😬
Positive reinforcement is an effective tool for shaping behavior in both humans and animals. 🌟 Yet, despite its science-based, proven efficacy, we sometimes find ourselves reluctant to employ positive reinforcement strategies.
One reason for this resistance may stem from a misconception that positive reinforcement is somehow „spoiling” ourselves or others. 🍭 We may fear that relying too heavily on rewards will make us dependent or diminish intrinsic motivation. 🤔
On the other hand, punishment and negative reinforcement are often more readily accepted. 🔒 Cultural and societal factors can influence our attitudes, with some cultures valuing discipline and strictness, making positive reinforcement seem weak. 🧐
Additionally, the fear of becoming dependent on external rewards can lead us to underestimate the long-term benefits of positive reinforcement and its effectiveness. 💪🏆

Attention Please course isn’t just for dogs who need a boost – it’s also the perfect way to enhance your existing relationship and skill set. Plus, there’s a delightful side effect, as Carolina discovered while tackling her laundry! 😂
Here’s what she had to say:
Admittedly, it has also crept into other parts of my life, the other week I had some clean laundry to fold and as I decided to do just a few items every night to make it easier to overcome the boredom of it I thought to myself: “small approximations towards the end goal of all the laundry being folded and put into the drawers”… And I have started to set up everything I need for a workout session beforehand, very neatly, making it easy to get started when it is time, just like any dog training session!”

🌧️ "I want to be dry in the rain." ☔
I've sought advice from several specialists, but their solutions fell short of my expectations. They recommended wearing a waterproof cape, carrying an umbrella, avoiding the rain altogether, or planning outdoor activities only when the weather is dry. None of these options align with my desire to venture out in the rain and stay dry, and I'm even willing to pay for consultation.
Sound familiar? Sadly, it does for me. As professionals, we often encounter unrealistic expectations from our clients. They mean well and want the best for their animals, but somewhere along the way, they haven't learned what's truly possible.
Let's dive into a common scenario:
Imagine Person X, a new dog owner in a city center surrounded by off-leash dogs, but their dog exhibits aggression towards others. X wants to fix it, so they consult a professional.
The professional offers a plan, but it's challenging due to the unfavorable environment. X tries it but doesn't see quick results, and daily practice becomes tough. They decide to consult another specialist, hoping for faster results.
At some point, the professional suggests X move to a less "doggy" area or walk their dog outside the neighborhood. X refuses, insisting on staying put and having their dog accept oncoming dogs.
The truth is, you can't have it both ways.
Remember, dogs and humans are vastly different species, and expecting a dog to act like a human isn't realistic. When you bring an animal into your life, adjustments are necessary.
Dogs bark, pee, have issues with their own kind, engage in behaviors we find strange, get sick, have complex emotional needs, and demand a lot from us as companions. An ethical approach to training requires us to see things from our learners' perspective.
Animals aren't here to fulfill our needs or work for us.

👉 “But I have to tell him he was wrong.”
No, you don’t! That’s not how it works. What you need to tell your dog is how to do it correctly!
It simply doesn’t work that way! You should understand that the conditions in which you cued the behavior didn’t provide a learning opportunity for your dog. Your role as a teacher is to adjust those conditions to meet your dog’s needs 🐕
Errors are feedback and information, and our role as teachers is to adapt the process when they occur.
Your dog responds to the conditions you set. If that’s not what you were expecting, analyze the environment.
When things go wrong, simply offer treats and move forward to guide your dog back on track, ensuring they receive reinforcement as soon as possible! ⏱️

Can’t secure a Premium Spot? No worries! Auditors still gain invaluable knowledge. But don’t just take my word for it, let my students share their experiences:
“An awesome basic course! I took it as an auditor, but practiced all the exercises with my dog. The perfect step-by-step instructions, a perfect combination of written and video instructions helped me build my skills and, in turn, also a perfect attention from my dog in challenging environments. Highly recommend!” - Neža Tesovnik

Building a Strong Foundation 🧱Rushing to address behavior issues without laying the groundwork can be a recipe for frustration. 🚫Every behavior has prerequisites, even seemingly simple ones like eye contact. Start with teaching your dog the basics, like how to take treats. Without these building blocks, you may struggle to achieve the results you desire. As behaviors become more complex, so do their prerequisites. Skilled trainers break down the final goal into teachable steps, sometimes completely unrelated to the end behavior. If your dog isn't performing as expected, don't correct; teach! Is your dog sitting crooked during heeling? Teach the correct position by focusing on the foundational skills needed. It's all about achieving fluency in the basics first. 📊Remember, a strong foundation sets the stage for successful training! 🏆Follow me for more training tips!#dogtraining #dogtrainer #dogsofinstagram #dogbehavior
When your dog is afraid of a storm, it's essential to provide them with the care and support they need:
⛈ Provide a Safe Space: Create a designated safe space in your home where your dog can seek refuge during the storm. This could be a cozy corner, a crate, or a room with minimal noise and windows covered to reduce lightning flashes.
⛈ Give Support: Be there for your dog. Offer comfort through gentle petting and soothing words to let them know you're there for them.
⛈ Pay Attention to Their Behavior: Monitor your dog's behavior closely during the storm. Signs of fear may include trembling, panting, hiding, or whining. Understanding their reactions can help you provide better support. Make sure you listen to their behavior.
⛈ Never Ignore: Never ignore your dog's fear. Ignoring can only intensify their response. Instead, acknowledge provide support and reassure them.
⛈ Provide Predictability: Maintain a sense of routine and predictability. Dogs often find comfort in familiar routines, so stick to their regular schedules as much as possible.
⛈ Build Positive Associations: Use treats, toys, or playtime to create positive associations with storm-related sounds. For example, play with your dog and offer treats during mild storms to help them associate these sounds with positive experiences. Don’t try to do that if your dog is over threshold.
Remember that you can't reinforce fear itself, but you can help your dog build positive associations with the things that frighten them.

The Value of Decompression Walks
Does your dog often seem restless or agitated? One simple yet highly effective way to provide them with much-needed relaxation is through decompression walks. These walks go beyond the typical exercise routine and focus on allowing your dog to unwind, explore, and take in their surroundings at their own pace.
🌳 Relaxation and Mental Stimulation: Decompression walks give your dog the chance to engage their senses fully. Instead of brisk walks, allow them to sniff, wander, and investigate their environment. This mental stimulation helps to alleviate stress and anxiety, promoting a calmer state of mind.
🚫 Away from Triggers: Daily life can expose dogs to various triggers that might cause unease. Decompression walks provide a safe space where your dog can get away from those triggers and enjoy a peaceful environment. This break from potential stressors can work wonders for their overall well-being.
💤 Relaxing the Nervous System: Allowing your dog to move at a leisurely pace during these walks helps activate their parasympathetic nervous system. This "rest and digest" mode counteracts the effects of a constantly active sympathetic nervous system, promoting relaxation and reducing the chances of burnout.
🏞️ Nature's Therapy: Nature has a unique way of soothing both humans and animals. Taking your dog to a park, a quiet trail, or even a spacious backyard provides them with a serene setting that contributes to their emotional balance. The rustling leaves, the scent of the earth, and the gentle breeze all work together to create a therapeutic experience.
Remember, the goal of decompression walks is not to cover a certain distance or achieve a specific level of physical exertion. Instead, it's about giving your dog the time they need to unwind, explore, and reset. Watch as they enjoy the freedom to be themselves, sniffing to their heart's content and finding joy in the simple pleasures around them.
